Gift Idea #3 - Altered CD's

#3 - Altered CD's

If you haven't tried altering a CD yet this is the perfect time of year to do so!

They make cool gifts and since you're working on a free surface it's a very inexpensive project!

I started by applying alcohol inks to the CD's in my desired color themes. I love how the reflective surface of the CD's really kicks the AI's up a few notches.

The use of metallic mixatives really adds another dimension to the CD as well.

Asian Inspiration

After the AI's were dry, I stamped various images on the CD using Archival Ink. I then poured a puddle of melted black UTEE on this CD and pressed a stamp (covered w/gold pigment ink) into it while it was still hot to create the cool seal on the right hand side.

I threaded a piece of Asian influence material through the center hole and draped a tassel & coil through as well. The hang ribbon was attached to the back side using E-6000.

Merry Christmas

This CD would be a fun alternative to a Christmas card...simply attach a sentiment or personal note on the back side, tuck it into an envelope and send it on it's merry way!

Besides the Alcohol Inks, this card incorporates distressed Christmas papers, a mini frame for personalizing and a fun ribbon sentiment.

Now, go dig out some of those cd's you've got laying around gathering dust and put them to some good use...be it a little wall hanging or a card alternative it's sure to be a hit!
