Gecko Galz - Yuletide Dreams

Hello Friends!

Today I am so honored and excited to share my first projects as a member of the Gecko Galz design team!!

This month's theme is Yuletide Dreams and this is what I have created....

First up is my dual sided ice skate. I thought it would be fun to make it double sided so you could display it longer...from Christmas right though winter.

Next up....

The Naughty List Accordion Album

Naughty is the new nice....LOL!!  Well it is for these Christmas misses.... I came up with all sorts of fun Naughty List sentiments and had fun pairing them with each of these little ladies.

And this month Gecko Galz is sharing a tag a day...I couldn't just stop at one - LOL!!

A pair of view master tags with lots of fun vintage images.

The little bubbles are actually watchmaker crystals for wrist watches. I printed the image twice - glued the various bits to the crystals then glued the crystals to the second print.

I loved this image and thought it would be fun to use a non-traditional color for Christmas.

This tag has a mica foundation - I sandwiched 3 images inside 2 pieces of the mica and embossed the edges.  I then added the sentiment, ribbons and charm.

Create Magic

Gecko Galz has a new challenge this month...Fantasy!

Here is what I created using this month's image...

I printed the image with muted colors then used some mica watercolor paints to add color to and make it sparkle. I wish I could capture the shimmer. It is so amazing IRL.

I also had the perfect wax seal for the canvas....

Go create some magic of your own!

Sleigh Ride Card & Ornament

 Yes, a second project today...

This one was made using the image from the Monthly Card Challenge at Gecko Galz. I liked the image so much I decided that I wanted to turn it into an ornament as well!!  I recently bought 6"+ tall wood ornaments that I thought would be perfect for this image.

Mom saw this while it was "in the process" and has already claimed it - LOL!!

For the card I used some very pretty foiled paper for the background, a shimmery blue cardstock for the die cut frame and a few glitter snowflakes and gemstones to finish it off.

To create the ornament I started off with a 6"+ wood ornament. I decoupaged the image onto the base then inked and embossed the edges and hanger with silver embossing powder.  I added "Snow" with natural colored mica flakes.  I finished it off with an embossed wooden snowflake a second glitter snowflake and pretty blue ribbon.

I hope I have done the image justice.

Who lives behind the Mermaid Door?

Today I wanted to share my latest Fairy Hugs creation...

I thought it would be fun to feature the Mermaid Door today. It is such a fun way to build a variety of scenes when used in combination with the seaweeds, mini sea icons, rock formations and more!

The above card was created by stamping and masking the door directly on the card panel then adding layers of stamps on top. I wanted to give it a bit of depth by adding mica flakes to the ocean floor.  It was colored with a variety of markers, white pen work and glitter for a bit of sparkle.

My second Mermaid Door card was created by using Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Sparkles on a piece of white cardstock. The shimmer is simply amazing. I then stamped the seaweeds, turtles and sentiment directly onto the card panel. I then stamped the other elements onto scraps of cardstock and mounting them to the card in layers creating depth and dimension. These elements were colored with a combination of markers and colored pencils to create the vivid images which helps make them pop off the background. I also used half pearls for the decorations over the doorway.

Fridafest Day 1

Image may contain: 4 people, text

Hello Friends and welcome to
Day 1 of the Fridafest Blog Hop!

Have you seen the amazing Frida Kahlo Stamps in the Lost Coast Designs Shop?? Linda has now added 4 new designs so we decided to showcase these beauties with two days of blog hopping.

Here is my creation for today. I wanted to go a bit outside my comfort zone so I decided that red was going to be a main color focus for this project. I also wanted to give her a bit of bling so I painted the image and card with mica watercolor paints. She was initially stamped using VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink, I then colored her using USArtQuest Mica Color watercolor paints. After I had painted the image I tore around it and inked it with Tulip Red VFC ink.

To create the background I mixed up a watery Super Russet (red) Mica Color paint and flicked it over  the entire black card panel. It is so shimmery in the light (see the photo below...).

"Inspiration" was stamped on a scrap bit of a gelli print I had in my stash.
I finished the card off with a few tiny Prima flowers and mini leaves I hand cut from Emerald Rinea Foiled Paper.

Be sure to see the Lost Coast Designs Blog for a full list of hop stops here:

We will be back again tomorrow with some more inspiration.
The more comments you leave the better chance you have to win a prize!

For another chance to win you can link up your Frida Kahlo inspired projects on the Fridafest blog post.

Your project can include a Frida Kahlo image, or be inspired by anything associated with her, but please explain your inspiration if it isn't obvious and don't forget that we need to see the use of real rubber or clear stamps.  Please don't forget to tell us the maker of your stamps and those using Lost Coast Designs and/or Carmen's Veranda stamps will get an extra chance at the random draw.

Time Steampunk Mica Card - Part 2

Back today to share how I finished off this fun Steampunk inspired telescoping card....

If you recall I left you at this point yesterday....

Well, we're ready to create the embellishments for this card and assemble each panel to make it telescope.

I started off by stamping several clock/time related images with StazOn ink then covering with a layer of Antique Creative Medium.

While the CM was drying I stamped the sentiment (from ClubScrap.com) several times and cut out each word and edged with black ink.

Next I cut out LOTS of gears using various dies from Memory Box using the left over cardstock I covered with the Metallic Creative Medium from the frames.

Then I stamped and embossed the "T" from the time stamp, trimmed and adhered it to the smallest scallop circle.  This will be the front cover of the card.

Then I started adding all of the fun bits to each segment of the card.

When it's time to assemble I started off by stacking the second largest frame over the largest frame.  Noted where they lined up at the bottom and poked a hole...at this point you need to make sure everything is oriented correctly when the card opens up as shown below....

Affix the next size frame to the 2nd largest - continue adding each segment frame to the previous until you reach the cover....

Here it is opened (above) and all closed up below!

And here are the individual gears/frames/segments.,...

So there you have it....a really telescoped telescoping card!
Hope you've enjoyed this project and give it a try for yourself.
