Rare Rose Gold Giraffe

I have been playing with Rose Gold lately and I decided to do something a bit unexpected...

I made a rose gold Giraffe!

Darling isn't she?  

I started off by spritzing the entire tag with Sheer Shimmer Spritz in Sparkle. I then flicked Rose Gold API onto the tag, smooshed it with an acrylic block and let it dry for a minute or so then flicked more Rose Gold API over it and let it dry.  I then used the Bubbles stencil, a sponge dauber and Rose Gold Delicata ink to add more pattern to the tag.

I then used a variety of VersaFine Clair inks to stamp flowers from the Big Bloom Factory set of stamps over the card and a few extras on a spare tag that I previously inked in the same fashion as the other tag.  I also at this time stamped the sentiment Be Mine.

I stamped the giraffe using Glamorous VF Clair ink and coloring it with a water brush and Rose Gold API.

The giraffe was fussy cut and mounted on the tag with double stick foam tape.

I added flowers, gemstones, sequins and ribbons ...

I had so much fun with this rose gold giraffe I think I'll make a few more!

I may even stamp up a whole Rose Gold heard of giraffe...

Up for a bit of fun? Well Lost Coast Designs has started the year off with an "Anything Goes" Challenge! It doesn't get much easier than that does it? If you stamp any project you're set to go!

I went with something very timely here in Indiana...a little snow bear!

He is from the Creepy Doll Collection but I think he's far too cute to be called creepy - don't you? 

My card background was a mix of Memento Inks sprayed with Frost Sheer Shimmer Spritz to mix.  A card panel was placed over the mix to create a lovely monoprint which was then stamped with both large and small snowflake stamps using VersaFine Clair Paradise, Kaliedacolor Blue Breeze and Silver Delicata inks.

The little bear was stamped on a piece of white cardstock using more of the VFC Paradise ink then water colored, topped off with a bit of black pen and glitter!  He was then fussy cut, affixed to the snowflake panel which was then added to a red card base.  The sentiment was diecut and added to the card.

Although I don't think he's very creepy...just a sweet little thing.

I choose to watercolor him with a variety of Memento Dye Inks for this card but I can think of so many fun color combos to color him.  He's going to be a fun stamp to play with!

I love the sentiment as well - just too funny, it fits him perfectly!

Welcome everyone to the 

Lost Coast Designs Mayan Blog Hop Day 1

We are all so excited about the new Mayan themed stamps we thought we'd show 'em off a bit.

I used the Mayan Stele image for the background then stamped the main image on watercolor paper using Imagine's VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink.  I then used a variety of Memento Dual Tip markers to color in all his fancy bits and bobs.  I used Fabrico Peach marker for his skin tone.  The ground was watercolored with a Niji waterbrush and Memento Dye inks.

It didn't look right without color so I used a waterbrush and Memento inks to give her the blueberry look ;)  LOL!!

InkTober 2018 - Day 3 Roasted

Welcome back to day 3 of InkTober 2018.

Today's prompt - Roasted...

LOL...I had a hard time with fire - didn't look like fire till I added the color ;)  Sorry, just not the best at drawing so color it was.  I do like how my marshmallows on a stick turned out though.  They look good enough to eat...at least to me they do but then again, maybe I'm just hungry for roasted marshmallows.  Haven't had any all summer long and obviously I need some ;)  LOL!!

Another card for the Creative with Stamps Challenge - Pumpkins!

I used all sorts of peg stamps from Rubber Stamp Tapestry to create this little scene. It was stamped using a combination of VersaFine Clair and Memento inks.  I used a waterbrush filled with water and a bit of Champagne Frost All purpose ink paired with watercolors to create a lovely shimmery sky for the background.

The stamped panel was mounted on a bit of Mocha/Mocha Starstruck Foiled Paper which was then mounted on a panel of Marigold/Marigold Starstruck Foiled Paper both from Rinea.  Makes for quite the striking card don't you think?

Watercolor Cotton Card

Hope all of my USA friends had a nice holiday yesterday.  It was a scorcher but we all made it through.

I have been wanting the cotton set of stamps from Altenew since they came out.  Well I finally got them and couldn't wait to play...

We were recently down in Alabama and got to see real cotton in the fields. I was able to purchase a couple stalks of cotton at a flea mall (that's what they call them down there...that's a whole nother story) and they are in a vase on my kitchen table.  I love it...it's so organic, just beautiful.

So I saw that this weeks challenge at  CAS on Friday/Sunday (it's called both for some reason) is #136 Watercolor so I thought I'd give it a go.

The "frame" around part of the cotton was just a swish of water then a bit of color added.  So easy yet very striking don't you think?

This month I have the honor of hosting the technique challenge on the Club Scrap blog - May Technique Challenge Stamping on the Edge.  I tried to post yesterday but our internet was on the fritz...apparently most of the day then it went out completely at 5:00 last night :(  After 45 minutes on the phone with Frontier this a.m. it is back up and running (knock on wood).

Prima Watercolor Confections

Today I wanted to share a bit about Prima's Watercolor Confections.  I have been wanting to get these since they came out at CHA in January and was finally able to do so so I thought I'd share my initial impressions with you.

The paints come all wrapped up like individual little confection treats in this darling little pan!

So you pop 'em out and unwrap each one.  The color numbers are on each wrapper so for the most part I inserted them by number except for the Tropical set. It was no where near the order I wanted it to be in so I rearranged as desired which you can do with any of them.  The pans snap into this nifty little tray.

Note, if your pans aren't secure, remove the pan, push the little silver tab towards the center of the pan just a touch.  Insert the pan of paints and it should be a snug fit.

The paint tray fits into this wicked little box that has lots of different sized wells for mixing and blending.  LOVE this!!!

I was surprised about the size...each paint box is smaller than my phone!

Here you can see all of the colors - you can see I've already started playing by the dried paints in the palette sections.

And a few projects I made using them....  Whale painted with brush & water.  I realized after I painted the whale I used only blues from the various sets - which is why my water is so colorful - LOL!!  (Yes, I watercolor in my coloring books.  I don't mind the wrinkly pages.)

This background was painted with brush & water and a few of the tropicals.

My rainbow tree was made using colors from the various collections and a Niji waterbrush.  I used a few of the metallics on the trunk.  Really pretty effect which doesn't show up in the photo.

Aside from the adorable boxes these paints come in the paints are awesome too.  Lots of pigment and it mixes and flows nicely.  If you don't have paints and would like to try some watercolors these are a super set to try.  Wide range of colors and very nice finished look.

One Line Watercolor Technique

I'm sure most of you are wondering what the heck I'm talking about....One Line Watercolor.  Well it was inspired by Novembers Technique Challenge at Club Scrap - watercoloring a stamped image with watercolor pencils.   I decided to challenge myself and use only single lines of color for each section of the stamp I wanted to color.

Here is the first card I made...

You simply stamp it in a lighter colored ink - in this case Pistachio.

Trace the image with desired colors using watercolor pencils.  You don't even have to fully trace the image as the watercolor media and paint can be easily spread around.  Once you've got the image colored the way you'd like, use a waterbrush or paintbrush and water to blend and move the watercolor around.  I've used Inktense watercolor pencils for todays projects.

I had so much fun with the first I made another...

This image was stamped with Grey Flannel Memento Ink. Since the sun was so big I added more than a single line of color in the upper left corner but not much.  The rest of the image is all single lines of watercolor pencil.

And wet to blend.

And finally my third.  

This time I stamped with VersaMark ink - yes, my pad is a bit dirty which is why you can see it.  That's why I used that particular pad.

It really is such a fun technique and once you get going it goes very quickly.  The hardest part is choosing the colors - LOL!!  After that it's a breeze!  I hope you give it a try.
