It's beginning to look alot like winter....

At least my cards are ;)

I thought I'd share a couple pages from the Winter issue of Rubber Stamp Madness which is in the mail or possibly even in your mailbox as I type this up!

Of course this is the Winter issue and I've got 2 chilly cards published in different sections of the magazine.  The first was a tree challenge...a creation which incorporated evergreens somewhere on the design.

This card is a one layer masked card.  I started off by stamping the back door image (JFF Stamps), masked off the left side then stamped the snow covered pine tree.  It blended in nicely don't you think?  The image was then colored using both Memento Inks paired with a waterbrush and Memento Dual Tip Markers.

The second card was in their Winter Galleria...

This card was made using all Club Scrap images/papers.  It too was stamped then colored with Memento Dual Tip Markers and Inks.

As it happens I have an extra copy of this months magazine that I'd like to share with one of you...just post a comment telling us what your favorite part of winter is.  You have until 10-31-16 to post your comment to be entered to win!

Be sure to check out Rubber Stamp Madness and their newest issue today...

Pocket Letter Article - GiveAway!

Oh Happy Day!  I received my new copy of Rubber Stamp Madness and the article on Pocket Letters is wonderful!  My pocket letter art takes up one entire page!

The article is 3 1/2 pages long talks about how pocket letters came to be and how stampers and mixed media artists have taken them in a new direction.  They asked me several questions first about pocket letters then about how I made the pocket letter shown!  I'm so happy that maybe it will spread this fun art to others.

Now for a give-away!  I subscribe to RSM so I actually got 2 issues...mine plus an artist copy so I have an extra to give-away!

Would you like to win a copy for yourself?

If so, simply post a comment telling us all if you've ever made a pocket letter or if you'd like to give it a try.  I will send not only the magazine but a few supplies (PL/Baseball Sleeves; Glassine Envies (to hold your goodies) and more!)

You have until 5-6-16 to post a comment to be entered to win!

Good Luck Everyone
and
Happy Creating!

Summer 2016 Rubber Stamp Madness!

YES - the new issue is coming soon
and check out what's inside.....
POCKET LETTERS!!!

Can't wait till you see it...it was so much fun to make!

Hello Stamper,

It won't be long before the Summer issue of RubberStampMadness arrives in your mailbox. Copies are due to be mailed April 20 and, depending on how far you are from Pontiac, Illinois, the home base of our printer, yours should arrive the first week in May. Do contact us at kendra@rsmadness.com if yours does not arrive by May 10th

All is well here at RSM. We've already started working on the Fall issue, but the Summer issue still holds a joyful spot in our hearts. Cover art is by Fran Seiford, owner of Stampendous, and there's a neat story about Pocket Letters, with artwork by two RSM staff members and Roni Johnson—all very cool pieces.

We hope you enjoy everything in the Summer issue. Do let us know if something isn't up to rubber-stamp standards. Your input is very important to us.

All the best,
Rubberta and Kendra

Daisies, ATC Swap & More...

Happy Day!!

Today I have a watercolor card for your approval...

The daisy & bee were stamped on watercolor paper using Memento Dye Ink.  I then started adding layers of watercolor paint on both the flower and bee.  I did a light wash of blue for the background and then applied a layer of Clear Pico Embellisher to the bee wings. To cut out the wave side of the card I cut around the lone petal and lifted it above the die before cutting to give that fun look.  I then cut the card blank separately.  The beeeeeeee happy sentiment was stamped then hand cut.

Supplies:

Club Scrap.com - Stamps & paper
IMAGINE Crafts featuring Tsukineko - Memento Dye Ink, irRESISTible Pico Embellisher
Watercolor Paper
Watercolor Paints
Wave Die

Brushed Rose & Sale Alert!!

Happy Day Friends!  I hope you're all having a wonderful week so far...  Today I wanted to share some fun rose cards I made using one of the newest releases from Just For Fun Rubber Stamps - the Brushed Rose.   This is a fun rose that can be used as a single image (as shown in the 1st & 3rd cards) or in pieces as I did for the card in the center.

This card was stamped on a fun background that was made by adding ink over gesso on a piece of cardstock.  Love the watercolor look of the Memento Luxe Ink over the gessoed background and I wish you could feel the texture of it.

I stamped these roses and leaves using a variety of Memento inks, the background paper is Club Scrap.

Another card stamped with Memento Ink.

And now for the big Sale Alert....
Starting this Saturday, May 16th....

Rubber Stamp Madness Give-A-Way & Discount Coupon!!!

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

I have a fun little bit to share with you...
I rec'd the new Spring issue of Rubber Stamp Madness yesterday
(actually 2 of them).

I always love it when this magazine arrives...
I can sit down and soak up the inky goodness.

Well, this issue was extra special because I have a card on page 22!!
Now since my card was included I got an extra "artist copy" that I want to share with you!

Simply post a comment telling us all how the weather is in your neck of the woods...
You have until 2-10-14 to post a comment.

We are bracing for another winter storm...they are forecasting anywhere from 6-12" of snow which will be made worse by the blowing winds causing lots of drifts overnight.
Now, I know lots of people don't care for snow or at this point are over it but I am very excited....
this is the most snow we've had in years and years.  I love it!  I am hoping that it keeps going for a bit so we can maybe break some winter snowfall totals - LOL!  Heck, we've had this much already, we might as well go for the whole shootin' match. Of course I realize at this point I'm in the quickly shrinking minority but hey, what can I say....we're not going to get rid of it by complaining so might as well enjoy it while it's here.  Before we know it it's going to be in the 90's w/90-100% humidity...
as my son says ~ you can put more on than you can take off ;)

ALSO

I mentioned a coupon...

is having a "Sweetheart" of a deal....

Simply put the code  SWEETHEART in the coupon section of the check-out area
to receive 25% off your entire order (not including shipping).

There are lots of cool new goodies available in the store
perfect for all of your collage, altered arts, mixed media, rubber stamping, cards
scrapbooks, altered jewelry and so much more!!!

This code is valid now through 2-10-14.

Have a wonderful day friends!!

Rubber Stamp Madness - Winter Issue

Hey Everyone!

I hope you're having a wonderful week so far.  I've been ankle (literally) in projects - I know I said I wouldn't do it again but I'm in a couple of craft bazaar's for Christmas.   I'll share more on what I'm making in the next few days.

I did want to take a moment and give you a heads up...
The new issue of Rubber Stamp Madness is out!

If by chance you subscribe (seeing as how it's one of the last rubber stamp magazines still out there) or if you get a chance to take a peek at it, take a look right inside the cover.  You'll see an ad for Stampers Best - Deep Red Cling Stamps.  The Rudolph card was made by yours truly :)  I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out...

Magazines to go Digital Only....

I wasn't surprised to read that Northridge Publishing is going to shift their magazines to all digital starting with their August 2013 issues.  They are the folks who put out Cards, Scrapbook Trends, Cricut Magazine, Cricut Magazine Idea Books, Create: Idea Books, Signature Series, and Creative Retailer.

They also publish Bead Trends and Simply Handmade, which sadly are going away.  I really liked Bead Trends...while I'm not a beader per say I got lots of inspiration from that magazine by taking bits and pieces I liked and turning them into my style.

You can read the full article about this transition on Scrapbook Update.

I think with the sky rocketing price of printing and mailing you'll see more and more of this.  I suppose it's my age (45) showing but I'm not a fan of digital magazines or even books for that matter.  I'm a tactile person, I like to have a book in my hands or a magazine I can make notations on, dog ear the pages and well, you get the picture.  Also, I don't want to have to rely on an energy company for my reading enjoyment.

I don't want to have to drag around an electronic device that I have to worry about charging, leaving behind, spilling something on, dropping, being stolen, etc.  If I forget where I set down a 4.99 book or magazine it's no big deal...if I forget where I put an ipad, lap-top, phone or reader we're talking about some serious $'s.

I had planned on tearing up my magazines...keeping the pages/articles I liked and tossing the rest but I guess I'll just keep them now.  Shoot, they might be an antique before too long....just like me - LOL!!

Oh well...can't go back now.

Vintage Valentine #2

Today I've got another fun Vintage Valentine for you. We'll be using many of the same items from yesterday with the addition of a few buttons, a bit of bakers twine and a metal rimmed tag.  You will also need the large heart pattern as well as another 4" Heart Lace Doily or the medium heart that I shared on post Vintage Valentine #1.

Vintage Valentine #2 - Buttons, Bows & Tags 002

Supplies:

Large & Medium Heart Patterns
(Note: 4" Heart Lace Doily may be substituted for Medium Heart)
Buttons
Cardstock
Rubber Stamps - Ink Stained Roni
(Note: these stamps are from February's Get Inked Kit - shhhhh!!)
Distress Ink
Ink Blending Tool
Printed Tape - Making Memories  (This is similar to TH Tissue Tape)
Vintage Sheet Music
Red & White Bakers Twine
Metal Rim Tag
Silver German Glass Glitter

Instructions:

1. Stamp vintage flourish in all four corners of a 4x5" piece of cardstock.

Vintage Valentine #2 - Buttons, Bows & Tags 003

2. Ink the entire piece of cardstock with the IBT and Victorian Velvet Distress Ink.

Vintage Valentine #2 - Buttons, Bows & Tags 004

3. Affix this piece of stamped cardstock to the top of a 5x7 card base.

4. Tear the vintage sheet music into 2 - 3" pieces.  Attach these pieces to the lower section of your card using your favorite glue.

5. Use the IBT  and more Victorian Velvet DI to highlight the outer and torn edges of the sheet music.

Vintage Valentine #2 - Buttons, Bows & Tags 005

6. Trace and cut out the large heart from white cardstock.  Ink the edges using the IBT & VV DI.  Attach it to the card.

Vintage Valentine #2 - Buttons, Bows & Tags 006

7. Use a circular motion to apply a thick glue to the heart and cover with silver German Glass Glitter.  Set the card aside to dry.

Vintage Valentine #2 - Buttons, Bows & Tags 011

8. Stamp sentiment in the center of the metal rimmed tag.  Ink with more Victorian Velvet DI.

Vintage Valentine #2 - Buttons, Bows & Tags 007

9. Create a ruffled circle from the printed tape.  You can create the ruffled circle by gathering the tape on one side as shown in the photo.  I like to do this on my non-stick craft mat so I can easily peel the ruffled circle off and use it where desired without harming the circle.  Use the tag as a guide to determine how large to create the circle.  I used approx. 12-14" of tape for this ruffle.

 Vintage Valentine #2 - Buttons, Bows & Tags 010

10. Once you have finished the ruffled circle, carefully peel it off the mat and affix it to the back of the tag.

11.  Trace & trim a medium sized heart from desired color of cardstock or pattern paper OR use a 4" Heart Lace Doily.  Glue it to the center of the large heart on the card.

12.  Mount the tag in the center of the doily and add a bow and buttons to finish off the card.

Vintage Valentine #2 - Buttons, Bows & Tags 012

So what do you think of the cards so far?

Look like something you'd like to make, give, receive?

Would you like to win an assortment of goodies (pictured below) so you can make your own???

Vintage Valentine's Goodies

Well all you have to do is leave a comment on any of the Vintage Valentine cards I have shared or will be sharing this week!!

You'll be entered to win all of this....plus a few surprises!!!

Rubber Stamping Magazines

I live in a rural section of Indiana so I don't have a large book store to hang out at. I never realized how many magazines were actually out there that cater either in part or whole to the rubber stamping hobby until I started searching the web. I thought some of you might enjoy checking out some of the places I found.

Some of these are e-zines and the rest are hard copy paper magazines. Most are from this country but there are a few from Canada, the UK and Australia :) Enjoy!!
