Easter Bunny Bling

Hello all...

As you might recall the team at Rinea has paired up with Creative Embellishments to share some fun projects. In a couple days I'll share my second "official" team project with you but today I wanted to share another shaker card I made just because I was having so much fun with their products!

I made this wickedly fun Bunny Shaker card.

I started off by making the shaker bit. Each of the Creative Embellishments shaker kits comes with a solid back, three outline pieces and a clear window. I started off by covering the back piece with Lavender/Gold Glossy foiled paper and gluing two of the outlines on top.

I filled the shaker window with a beautiful sequins blend called Sparkle Blends Easter Basket by Doodles Paper Playground. I then glued on the acrylic window and final frame piece. I covered the top outline piece with purple glass glitter for an extra bit of sparkle.

I created the card by stamping eggs from Sunny Studios with Silver Delicata ink over the right side of a teal card base.  While the ink was drying I made an accent piece using Lindy's Magical Shaker Powders on watercolor paper.  When dry it was mounted on the card and then I added a bit of sparklie washi tape for a border.

The bunny was then affixed to the card!

Such a fun way to bring some joy to your favorite bunny!

Sail Steampunk Canvas

Good Morning all...

Today I have a canvas for you that I had loads of fun making. Ya know sometimes there are projects that you have to create for a specific reason and then there are times there are projects you want to make just for fun. Well this is one of those just for fun projects all for me.

This month the team at Rinea had to opportunity to play with chipboard pieces from Creative Embellishments and let me tell you it was instant love for me. They have so many cool pieces and the ones I fell in love with (besides the shaker kits) were all of their Steampunk goodies!! I abosolute LOVE this Airship!

So I already created my projects for the Rinea blog (those will come along later in the month) but I still had some chipboard pieces left over. I was very inspired by the current March Challenge on the Creative Embellishments blog and decided I wanted to play.  This is their inspiration board....

with the optional twist to incorporate GLITTER!!

I love all of the colors and well, you all know how much I love glitter so I decided to give it a go. Here's what I did...

I started off by covering a canvas board with Silver/Silver Starstruck foiled paper.

Used DecoArt Modeling Paste and this pretty stencil to add some fun designs.

Then I spritzed it with Fireworks! ink spray colors similar to the ones on the inspiration board.

While the canvas was drying I colored several gears with a paint pen.

Then glued them into cloud formations.

While the glue was drying on the clouds I colored the airship with some Memento Markers, the white paint pen and some metallic markers.

When the clouds had dried I covered them with glitter....a very pretty irridescent mica micro glitter over most with a bit of silver glass glitter along the bottom edges - you know for a silver lining.

And this is what I came up with!

So I'd like to enter this project into the March 2020 Creative Embellishments challenge!

Thanks to all for looking...
hope it inspires you!

Sparkles!

Hello Friends!!

I was sick this past weekend so I missed out on posting a link to a new card/technique that was posted on Saturday over on the Imagine blog.

I am so excited to share this card with you...it contains one of my favorite craft supplies...GLITTER!!!  Yes I know, most of you think I'm nuts but I love glitter and this is a non-messy way to incorporate it into your projects.  It was mixed with Creative Medium to hold it fast.

It turned out really sparklie and bright IRL, so pretty and since I used glass glitter it also has a really nice texture to it as well.

You can find complete instructions and a supply list over on the Imagine blog here:

Have a lovely day friends!!!

Craft Attitude Printable Craft Film & Project - Vintage Glove

Being on a variety of design teams allows me to play with new or different products I might not normally have the opportuinty to use.  Today I get to share one of those experiences with you in regards to Craft Attitude Printable Craft Film.  Altered Pages has teamed up with Craft Attitude this month to share projects and inspiration for using this film.

I had never heard of it before so while it might not be a new product on the market it is new to me.  This film can be run through your ink jet printer, once dry you can then apply the images (or text) to virtually any surface you desire with a bit of adhesive*.

*There are other methods of adhering it to your project but I haven't tried them yet.

So, I had played around it it briefly last month experimenting with how it works and how it looks on different surfaces.  To me this is a fun new way to create an EASY image transfer...without all of the work!  How so?  Well, normally you have several steps involved with any image transfer process, and one of those steps usually includes the process of spritzing the back of the image with water and painstakingly rubbing off the paper (that the image was printed on).  That oh so time consuming step is completely eliminated with the CA film!  Woo Hoo!

The Craft Attitude web-site says it's as easy as 1 - 2 - 3....

1) Choose your favorite digital photographs or images.
2) Load Craft Attitude into your inkjet printer. Flip your image (otherwise text is reversed) and print.
3) Cut your Craft Attitude image to fit your project and apply using a glue stick, iron or laminator.
So after playing around last month I was ready to put it to the test.  You all know how much I like to incorporate vintage pieces into my art so I was searching through my stash for something to apply this image onto and found a lovely vintage felt glove...you know, the kind ladies wore in the 30's - 40's...  I had bought a bag of assorted gloves at an antique mall last year and I've been saving them for just the right project.

I decided on an image I wanted to use (from the Altered Pages collage sheet Lady Chatterly's Lover) and printed it out. At the same time I also typed up this piece of text over and over to create a block of text, "She whispered, I think I'm falling in love.  He smiled, Don't worry, I'll catch you."  So romantic huh?

Well, not so fast.  You need to first identify how your printer pulls the paper through - I didn't so originally I printed the image on the backing paper instead of the craft film - DOH!
Take 2 - I printed off my desired image and let it dry. NOTE - if you print text out be sure to print it in reverse...just like you would any other image transfer method. Now it says to let the image dry at least 2 hours before you use it...   First let me say that you should always follow manufactures directions to ensure proper results.  Next let me tell you I didn't wait that long <my bad!>.  I only waited about half an hour and it seemed dry so I went ahead with it.
I trimmed the image pretty close then placed it on the glove to test fit it.  I then lightly traced around the edges with a pencil so I would know where to apply the glue.

I removed the image from the backing paper and you're left with the piece of film that is see-through (great if you're wanting the background to show through.  I placed it over the glue and smoothed it out then left it to dry.

Next I cut up the text block and used pieces of it along the pinky edge of the glove and added a bit to each finger.  After it was all dry I finished it off with all sorts of fun embellishments and here's how it turned out....

A close up of the fingers....

And the entire glove...

Fun huh?
So what do you think of it?
I will have more fun experiments with this film in the coming days.

Be a GOOD one!

Recently I heard someone on TV use this quote and I knew I had heard it before...actually, I thought I even had a stamp and sure enough, I went digging around and found it!  It is from a Glitz Stamp set (listed below).  After the kick start of seeing it on TV I thought it would be fun to use it (since it had never been inked up- gasp!).

I also incorporated some way fun glass glitter I had gotten recently.  I tell you what - I LOVE that stuff...it's like a dose of regular glitter on steroids - LOL!!  I know some people don't care for it because yes, it's real glass and it is sharp but hey...no pain, no gain ;)  Anyway, I think it really adds so much to the chipboard bird.

I started off by stamping the corner flourish (from the Afternoon Muse stamp set) on a piece of pattern paper from the Glitz Uncharted Waters paper stack.   I also stamped the Black Eyed Susan on a piece of vintage text.  I colored the flowers using Distress Inks and a Niji Waterbrush.  I mounted the flowers onto the background.   The sentiment was stamped on plain old white cardstock and colored with Spectrum Noir markers.

I glued glass glitter to the bird image (champagne for it's belly and ocean blue over the rest of the bird.) and inked up the crown with Delicata Gold ink.

While the bird was drying I printed out the eggs and bird collage images, trimmed and inked the edges.

Once everything was dry I added the collage image, sentiment, eggs and finally the glittery bird.  Three little brown pearls finish it all off.

Hope you're all having a wonderful week!!
Have you been inky lately????

Stamp Credits: All Just For Fun Rubber Stamps

Recycling at it's best...all of the frames were purchased at an estate sale for .50 each.  I painted them with black acrylic paint then rubbed Inka Gold on them once dry.  I made fussy cut Custom Letters and mounted them on dictionary pages that I had stamped with a variety of spooky fun rubber stamps.
A fun project that can be used for any occasion or theme!

Frozen Charlotte Watchmaker Vial Charm

I'm so excited...this is one of those things on my "I have to make this" list.  I saw something similar quite a long time ago but only that one was just parts ~ a leg, an arm, part of a torso...  a bit too gruesome for me unless it's Halloween.

Anyway, I started off by taking one of the tiny Frozen Charlottes and I painted her with gesso then inked her up a bit with some Distress Stain.  After she had dried I covered her with a layer of Crystal Lacquer.

The center doll was painted with gesso then completely covered with Distress Stain.  After that had dried I rubbed on more gesso here and there and finally covered it with Crystal Lacquer.

The third doll is just the paper clay casting to be used for comparison.

Once she had completely dried I added a small amount of German Glass Glitter to the bottom of the vial, popped in my little doll and glued the cork to the vial.  I then screwed in an eye screw finding and tied a little pink bow to the finding.  That was the hardest part - LOL!!

I thought these would make awesome charms for a Steampunk or Vintage Girly-Girl necklace.

What do you think?
Amazing how the paper clay looks like cast porcelain after it has been covered with the Crystal Lacquer huh?

25 Ideas for the Holidays - #2 Chipboard Faux Glass Ornaments

Today I wanted to share a fun way to make faux glass ornaments to send in the mail...they look great and won't break!

Chipboard Faux Glass Ornaments

Supplies:

Chipboard
Stamps (Stampers Best)
Ink
Markers
Embossing Ink
UTEE
Heat Tool
Metal Leafing Flakes, Glass Glitter, Leafing Pen
Stretch Cord
Ornament Die or Circle pattern

Instructions:

1. Stamp desired images onto the chipboard using permanent ink.  I started off by stamping music over the entire sheet then I went back and stamped various Christmasy images.  All of the images I used for these ornaments are from Stampers Best.

2.  Color the images with markers.

3. Hand cut or die-cut desired shapes for your ornaments.  I have a die that cuts large ornaments but I also cut one that is just a plain circle by hand.  You don't have to use just circles...your ornaments can be any shape you desire.  Let your imagination run wild.

4. Now pounce the clear embossing ink over the entire ornament.

5. Sprinkle with UTEE and begin heating with a heat tool.  I like to work in a shallow box which has been lined with aluminum foil.   This helps protect my work surface from those tiny bits of UTEE that always manage to fly away.

6. Continue alternating between adding more UTEE and heating.

TIP - When I'm working on a project like this I like to fill an old pepper shaker (salt shaker holes are usually too small) with the UTEE.  This is such a time saver!!!  I just shake on what I need and don't have to mess with the jar, tiny spoons, etc.    By having the shaker in one hand and the heat tool in the other I can really add many layers of UTEE without having to stop or slow down.  I can finish an ornament in no time using this method.

Here is what the ornaments look like at this point.....

7. You can add a faux hanger to your ornaments in any number of ways.  My favorite is to use metal leafing flakes.  Simply add a dab of glue, layer on the flakes, let it dry a bit then brush away the excess leafing flakes.  Makes for an awesome finished look....

You can always use a Metallic Paint Pen - I like Krylon's.  They just paint right over everything.

Or if you've hand cut a shape that doesn't have a built in hanger you can always add a mat to your shape to add the hanger to.  Here I have die-cut a mat with holes around the edges, covered with glitter then I mounted the circle on the mat.

8. The final step is to at a bit of stretch cord to each ornament for hanging and your ornament is ready to be given!

NOTE: this is for a one sided ornament.  This leaves room on the back for a special little note to the person receiving the ornament.  You could always add a second ornament to the back of the first for a double sided ornament.  Just remember to add a bit of trim, glitter glue or other medium to cover the seam.
