Gnome Sweet Gnome.... with Rinea and Joy Clair Stamps!

Today I wanted to share my fun Gnome card made using Joy Clair stamps, Rinea Foiled Papers and dies from Gina Marie Designs. Had so much fun coloring the gnomes and their mushroom home with a variety of colored pencils then adding lovely die-cuts of Rinea's foiled paper. The scene came together in no time and will be fun to send on to a friend.

Growing In Unity Blog Hop!!

On with the fun....

Since it is October and Halloween is right around the corner I thought it would be fun to share a couple cards made using some of my most loved Halloween stamps from Unity.

Yes, the gang's all here! Tierra Jackson is one of my most favorite Unity artists, I love her take on Halloween. Aren't they just the coolest? I absolutely love them and have fun creating with each one. 

Today I thought the spiders should be purple, the Mummy is all dressed in his best wrap, Frank and his lady love are dolled up for the party and of course the Count is spiffed up in his natty red suit (to hide any dribbles of course).

To create this card I stamped and masked each character before stamping the next (starting with Frank in the center).  

I then spent some time and colored each using a variety of colored pencils and finishing up the background with watercolor.

I was having so much fun I decided to make a second card featuring Spider.

To create this card I stamped Entanglement on a piece of white cardstock using VersaMark ink.

I then embossed with white MBossing powder.

I used Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors to add color.

Spider was also stamped with VersaMark but then embossed with black MBossing powder.

He too was colored using watercolors. 

Once dry he was fussy cut and added to the card along with the sentiment and Limited Edition sequins from Sparkle Blends.

Nevermore Shaker

 NEVERMORE....

Of course Edgar Allan Poe is one of the fathers of Halloween so it's only appropriate that we throw a bit of his spirit into this celebration of the macabre. 

This card is very much me...where the creepy factor meets the glitter girl in me!

Big surprise here but I have a very large collection of glitter cardstock AND sequins - LOL!!  I thought these nifty stamps were the perfect place for them to come together.

I started off by creating the background for the shaker. I started by placing a mask for the moon off to one side then began layering inks on a lavender piece of cardstock. When I was satisfied with the colors I stamped the Raven3 on the panel. I removed the moon mask and applied a bit of white pigment ink to that area.

I added a bit of pen work and a little glitter to the raven, colored the branch and added some spooky clouds and called it good.  I then set about making the shaker  bit by cutting a piece of glitter cardstock and die-cutting the center. I then added a piece of plastic, some of the many sequins in my collection and popped it on the raven panel.  I then stamped the Nevermore image on white cardstock, fussy cut and added it to the card.

Seahorse Stampede!!

Hello hello!!!

 Today I wanted to share my latest Fairy Hugs creation...
which is being shown on Hochanda today!!

Yes we have a stampede of Seahorses!

It's mini invasion of these cute little devils...

This card can be seen on Hochanda today at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm EST.

Let's get started...

Here's how it was made...

1. Create the background by spritzing water onto the smooth side of a piece of watercolor paper. 

2. Sprinkle with desired colors of Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals pigment powders and let it do it's thing. Heat to dry if desired or let it dry naturally.

3. Once the panel is dry, stencil waves and sea weed.

4. Stamp first, second and if possible third generations of the smallest seahorse with blue and grey ink (using these colors make it look like they are further away in the ocean).

5. Die cut many different bits of foliage in a variety of colors, layer and glue them around the panel.

6. Stamp all 3 sizes of seahorse on cardstock, fussy cut and add glitter as desired.

7. Affix these seahorses to the panel using foam tape.

8. Mat this panel onto a piece of white then black cardstock with a piece of chipboard for backing to stabilize it.

9. Finish off by adding white pen work where desired.

10. ENJOY!!

Creative Embellishment Holiday Truck

 Good Monday Morning Friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Today I have a fun project for you featuring one of Creative Embellishments fun large size wood pieces - Pick Up Truck.  It measures almost 5" x 12" so it's much larger than their chipboard pieces making it great for wall art, home decor and gift ideas.

I did something a bit different to color it. It's something I've been doing for a while now and just never thought to share it.  I use this technique on both wood and chipboard. It seems to give the finished piece a nice vintage look which as you know I love.

I start off by painting the piece white - either using white acrylic paint or for smaller pieces white paint pen.  It doesn't have to be perfect, just get most of it covered with a bit of paint. It doesn't matter if the wood/chipboard shows through a bit, it will be covered in the coming layers.

Next use dye inks to color in the various portions of the truck. I started off with the wheels  but then got so engrossed with the process I forgot to take additional photos! I used Memento Dual Tip Markers and Memento Dye inks to color this piece. I just kept layering different colors on top of the previous until I achieved the look I was going for.

As you can see some of the white shows through in some areas while others are completely saturated. I used 4 different shades of red, a few shades of brown, black and even a touch of purple here and there to add deep shadows.   It's all very fluid and I blend most of it with my fingers/hands to get the "look". 

Now of course this is really cool as it is but I had an idea. I wanted my truck to haul various items for each season. Yes I could have just glued whatever I wanted to haul to the back of the truck BUT I had an idea.  

  

I glued a strip of foam board to the back of the truck right under the rack.

I then painted a piece of chipboard black on one side (the side that would show in the back of the truck) and glued it to the foamboard.

This created a little pocket between the rack and the chipboard.

 Just enough space to slip in my load.

I painted some chipboard pumpkins (Pumpkin Set) in the same way I did the truck. 

When dry I glued them together to form a stack.

Slide them into the pocket....

And now my truck is hauling it's very first load of pumpkins to market!

I had some pine trees (Tall Trees) in my stash so I painted those up as well, 

glued them together and....

I've got all sorts of ideas of things to haul for other holidays and seasons. 

I can't wait to fill it all year long!

Fun This Week...on TV!!!

I have some exciting news... The new design team I'm on - Fairy Hugs Store - is going to be on the British craft tv channel Hochanda this coming Tuesday - October 6th. They will be selling and showing the new stamp release AND the best part is you might just see some of my creations during the show!! All of the design team made various projects using the new Fairy Hugs stamps which they will be using in the background, on the presentation table and the presenter may even share some on camera.  I am so excited because it will all be a surprise since we don't know how they will all be used.

A Bit of Wicked Fun!!

Ahhhh - Halloween! 

Don't ya just love it?

This is my favorite time of the year!

I wanted to share my first creation for the 31 Days of Halloween....Wicked!

I absolutely LOVE this stamp from Teri Sherman - Batty It's got such lovely intricate details that you just have to see to believe. I used it on this card by stamping with VersaMark ink then embossing with Gold Mbossing powder from Imagine. It really pops on the black cardstock. 

I trimmed this fun Halloween paper and mounted it on a black card base. Once the image had cooled it was fussy cut then affixed to the card with foam tape. I added the Wicked sentiment and added a few sequins from Sparkle Blends.

Happy Halloween to You Slimline Spiderweb Card

Hello My Inky Friends....

Today I have a fun Halloween card to share with you ...

This card was made using a variety of goodies...

The web (Rubbernecker Stamps) was stamped using VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink.

I then smudged around Morning Mist (grey) over the webs and along the edges.

The sentiment (Technique Tuesday) was then stamped below the web again using Nocturne ink.

I trimmed up the card panel and mounted it on a card base that was covered with a piece of Style Tech vinyl...(it's so sparklie and pretty IRL!).

Finally I added sequins and other bits from the Sparkle Blend limited edition sequins mix called You Drive Me Batty.

A Wicked Brew Shaker

 Happy October!!!

I LOVE this time of the year and all it entails....

Crisp air, crunchy fallen leaves, pumpkin spice and HALLOWEEN!!!

Of course the first of October is the start of many wonderful things...31 Days Of Halloween Challenge tradition of sharing a different Halloween project each day. Going to shoot for it but for several reasons I seem to be a bit behind in creating for it this year. It is also the start of Inktober - another daily challenge but this one is all about a new and different drawing each day. Again, I probably won't hit every day but I am going to pull my sketch book out, dust it off and pen down a few.

To start things off I want to share this fun little bottle of poison I made up especially for you....

Isn't this the coolest? I had so much fun making this. I actually used the Poison Bottle from Gina Marie Designs but not how you might think. Instead of using the diecut I actually used the negative left over from cutting out the bottle.  By cutting around this negative I had the frame for my shaker!

It was easy from that point. I cut out a second "bottle" using the frame as a guide. I covered that bottle with Violet/Violet Starstruck foiled paper from Rinea.  I affixed a piece of clear plastic to the bottle frame, lined it with foam tape.  I filled it with a fun sequins mix from Sparkle Blends called...Wicked Brew!!   

Now I could have made it like any traditional shaker but I wanted to do something a bit special since it is Halloween afterall.  Instead of putting foam tape across the top I left that open and cut a piece of cork for gasket material (snatched from DH) to fit into the opening just like a real cork.  The gasket cork is just thicker than the craft cork and as it happens is almost the same depth as the foam tape I had so it worked perfectly.

I then wrapped a bit of twine around the top, added some pen work and the skull and crossbones (also from the Poison Bottle diecut set) covered with a bit of glitter!

Spooky Skyline Challenge...Last Chance!!

 Good Morning Everyone!

September 30th which means it's the last day to enter the Spooky Skyline Challenge over at the Sparkle Blends Fan Club on Facebook!  You do have to join the club to enter but it's free and a great place to gather inspiring projects using sequins and shaker card ideas.

Today I wanted to share my final Spooky Skyline with you and encourage you to enter.

I just love those little trick or treaters in those big scary woods.

I made it by sprinkling Color Burst powders over a piece of watercolor paper. I didn't want them to blend too much, just enough to make a nice transition so I had my spritzer bottle in one hand and my heat tool in the other. I "pushed" the water back when I thought they were blending too much so everything stayed where I wanted.

I stamped the trick or treat image along the bottom. Next I stamped the moon on a piece of cream shimmer piece of cardstock that was floating around in my stash. It was trimmed then glued securely to the background. I say securely because I didn't want any of the shakie bits to get stuck behind the moon.

As you can see I diecut the trees from black cardstock, added a piece of acetate and foam tape. I poured the You Make Me Batty sequins mix in the center of the card then affixed the shaker front to the panel. I know this isn't the traditional way to make a shaker but sometimes it's the only way to get the frame positioned correctly on a scene card.  

I had so much fun making this...and you know what?

Some of the bats glow in the dark!!!

How fun is that :)

I must say this is one of my favorite shakers I've made.
