Splitcoast Stampers = Bah Humbug!

I am going to rant a bit here so if you don't want to read it ~ I totally understand....I just have to get this off my chest.

I am totally floored...this afternoon I posted a link on Splitcoast Stampers to the Christmas quotes, sentiments, etc. here on the blog.  This evening after I got home from sewing and I had not one but two e-mails from a couple moderators over there.  The emails were to inform me that my post was deleted because it is/was considered a "promotional" post and not allowed.

I have to tell you this really offends me on so many levels.....

First off ~ I see TONS of links by numerous people over there in both the Forum AND Gallery that takes people not to a specific post on their but just links to the whole blog.  Most say things like "For details see my blog".

Second ~ I am not promoting any particular company (like so many of the SU people do) nor am I selling things (like alot of the Etsy) folks do.  I am doing this to share what I feel is a wealth of useful information that benefits not only stampers/card makers but scrapbookers, teachers, and any other person who would find some use for these quotes.   In the past I have posted similar links and have rec'd posts and e-mails thanking me for all of my hard work....  It has taken me YEARS to accumulate this information and it takes HOURS and HOURS to type up and collate this information (if you will notice all of my lists are in alpha order).

Third ~ I ALWAYS post a direct link to the specific thread and explain in my post on Splitcoast what I have posted there.  If someone doesn't need this information then they aren't sent somewhere blindly ~ they know exactly what they are going to find.

Forth ~ they mentioned I should post the information directly on Splitcoast....  This is a 31 page document in MSW..... Their comment pages don't even let you type in that much information!!!

I don't know.....maybe I'm over reacting a bit but
@(#*&%)(!@*#& that really honks me off....
Try to do something nice and share some useful information with others and get a response like that.....
I feel like I'm a criminal :(
I just do not understand!

  1. Bummer. I got 170+ blog posts in my google reader today and yours (with the Christmas sentiments) was the only one that I "starred" and "tagged" so that I could reference it later. I don't understand why they would remove such useful & generous information. I forget how I came across your blog but I have been enjoying it. Thanks!

  2. That sucks girl :( I can't imagine why they would be offended by your post. Doesn't make any sense.

  4. Hi Roni: I think you should say exactly what you are feeling. I for one am very thankful that you share so much knowledge and experience and talent with us. I have never once thought you were anything but generous and kind. I am sorry you got deleted unfairly. Please keep creating and sharing...

  5. Think of it this way....it's their loss. I always send people here because you have such a wealth of info! THANKS SO MUCH!!

  6. We appreciate you and everything you do. They are just jealous of all your talent, hardwork, inkyness, thoughtfulness, honesty and the fact that your followers love you. Thank you for all that you have taught me. Btw, I got some vintage Ball lids on Etsy and I am going to make some magnets! Hehe..fun!

  7. Power trippers. They don't matter. They just can't stand that YOU are a thoughtful and generous person and THEY are power hungry interlopers without feelings. :OP

  10. You have every right to feel like you do. They don't get it. Your extensive list is so useful and many people would have loved to have it.

  11. Just remember it is only one or two people who are making that decision, and then there are all of the rest of us who love the things you do and really appreciate your efforts. Thank you for everything

  14. Ohh...I'm so sorry. I enjoyed your list. It's getting me in the Christmas mood! I like what Margaret said - this only represents a couple of people and their opinion. The rest of us appreciate your hard work and how that you generously share so much with us!

  15. That sucks -- HARD!!! Rest assured that we, your blog readers, appreciate all your hard work. Please don't get discouraged! As another commenter here already said, SCS seem to be on a kind of power trip right now, and it's their own loss. Keep a stiff upper lip now, girl!

  16. I noticed that when I go to the forum links I receive in their newsletter they now have a big 'can't miss seeing' box at the top informing me grudgingly that I am an unregistered guest being permitted to read the page. They want me to register/sign up to read the forum pages. But I did sign up--to receive their newsletter for free. If they don't want me to read the forum pages they shouldn't include the links. If they think they can badger me into joining the forum they've got another think coming.

That notice wasn't there before, or if it was it was small and I don't recall reading it--and if I did it didn't make an impact.

The way it is now it sets a tone that I don't like. They are the ones that offer the free newsletter and hence the links, in hopes that I'll buy something from them. So their motive/agenda is to sell me something. You'd think they'd treat me nicer.

Roni-I'd chalk it up to 'stupid' on their part. Times are hard in the business now so they are playing hard ball for business. But if you offend your potential customer base what have you gained?

It's their loss. Blow 'em off like they did you. They offend enough people and they'll pay where it hurts--the bottom line.

Maybe they are hurting now and are desperate, making stupid moves????

  17. I don't know what list you shared (I'd like to see it).
I enjoy reading your posts and ideas anyway!
Maybe sending them an e-mail with your feelings is an option?

  18. I don't really understand what their issue is. I think what you posted was useful and so wonderful on your part to do so. I do understand why you are upset and I think you have every reason to be. I don't think you did anything wrong. Please keep sharing your wonderful art and keep creating! I love your blog and look forward to reading it daily.

  19. ok well first of all that sucks, secondly, they are most likly thrown off by how nice your blog looks, and seeing that it scares them off. or they think you are a professional.

I think what you are doing is just great and oh well to those that do not want to partake in the greatness that you do and have done, it is their loss.

I for one am happy to follow your blog and your inspiration is limitless.

Thank you for all that you do and contribute to our craft!!

  20. I am not suprised that you are angry. I was so impressed by the posting and the fact that it must have taken you so long both to collect and to type out such a lot of great information. I cannot understand their response at all.

  21. Roni -

I understand your "ranting". Out of the goodness of your heart you provided something useful to their readers and they removed it. Their loss, I wonder if they even bothered to really look at what you posted? All I know is that I am very grateful for all your hard work, your generosity and your expertise. You have such a wonderful blog and one of my greatest pleasures is searching through it to find things I might have missed before. So a big Thank you from me for all you do for us!!!

  22. As much as I find Splitcoast to be a wealth of information, I have stopped accessing it partly because of the overzealous (in my mind) regulation. I haven't posted anything they considered objectionable, but I have seen all kinds of hoopla about this and that that just made me lose interest. I understand why they don't want the boards cluttered with a bunch of advertisements, but links to techniques and general information sources are one reason I read forums like that. I'm with you Roni.!

  23. Roni: I love your blog and that you teach and share so much information, ideas and techniques. Wow..so sorry that someone doesn't like your input and help. I am not very computer literate and I have not seen your Christmas sentiments, although would love to, but not sure where to find them on your blog. However, I do try many of your inky techniques and love every messy minute of my experience. Thank you for sharing from your heart. Joanne

  24. Some people just like the power. I am so glad that you share your talents and you feelings. The list is very nice - Thank you.
Hopefully I can use some of the says this year in my cards.

  25. Hi Roni, I've been off-line for a few days, so I'm just now finding this post. Your Christmas post is absolutely amazing and I am so grateful to you for doing the work and sharing it with us. SCS is nuts! Probably someone jealous of your fabulous blog, because there is no way anyone with even half a brain could construe your post as in any way promotional. You have every right to be angry. Personally, I started out going to SCS a bunch, but over the past few years I mainly just visit quality blogs like yours. As someone else said, it's their loss.

  26. I would be ticked off if I were you too. I don't understand how they determine what is ok and what is not. You weren't pushing anything you were selling. What you did was very nice and thoughtful. So, in typical Brooklyn NY vernacular, screw them.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I would be upset too. You were not selling anything. I use to visit their site but have not visited it in a while. I don't think I even want to. It is their loss!!! You are an amazing person!! Thank you for always sharing so much with us!

  28. Hey Roni!! I'm glad you spoke your mind..especially to those of us who love you! We'll stand by you! I appreciate all you do! I bet that this will get back to the 2 moderators that were involved and KARMA will take care of the rest...it usually does!

    Hang in there darlin'!!!

  29. I can't imagine why SCS decided that the link to your FREE work was worth deleting when all of the digi sites & Stampin' Up! demonstrators are always posting links on there especially in the tutorial section where they cleary state they are with Stampin' Up!! I've shared your link with many people, and now I will post it on my sidebar to boot! THANKS for all of your hard work and especially sharing your awesome talent with us!

  30. Roni, you have every right to feel the way you do. That post was extremely generous and not advertising in any way so I'm not sure I see their reasoning. Because of your generosity, I *DID* link to it on StampHaven.com: You can find it here.

    Thanks for everything you do!!

  31. I personally really appreciated it. I understand it must have taken you a long long time to put it together and its a priceless resorce to have for sentiments because i can never seem to get those right! So thank you thank you thank you! :-)

  32. So, I think SCS is getting a little too big for its britches. I used an image of Botecelli's Birth of Venus for a twinchie. Yes, she is nude, but one hand covers her breasts, and one hand drapes her hair over the more southern regions, and, for crying out loud, it's BOTECELLI -- a classic since the 1400's. When I posted it to my gallery, I got the big blue screen warning me that the content was objectionable. Do these people even know what they are looking at?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Shame on them and too bad for them.
    I appreciate all you do!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Well...isn't that ridiculous! There are gallery users who post their stuff for company blog hops, and others who ask you to check their blog for details and when you get there it's nothing but one big advertisement for one product or another! Sounds like a jealous blogger may have reported it since more than one Mod emailed you?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I was asked to send some product and did so happily. When the sample and tutorial were made, no mention of the product was provided. A couple people commented on where they could find the item, and I mentioned where in the comments, and my comments were removed because they were promotional. ???

    Great resource, but weird management.
