LE Autumn Distress Inks

Ahhhh, back to that whole marketing thing ;)  LOL!!
Yes, Tim Holtz and Ranger have come up with another must have set of inks...  not must have because it's got TH's name on it but I know for some that's all it takes.    From what he posted on his blog the first batch sold out in about 6 hours.

For me 2 of the 3 are must haves because they do fill a color niche that has been needed. I say this because DI's have been my ink of choice since they came out (way back before TH was even a marketable asset).  Alas, these LE DI's are available only as a set of 3 and will not have re-inkers.  I was more than a bit disappointed about the no-reinker business but you gotta take what you can get right?

Anyway, on to the colors....  I'm sure if you've read his blog or any number of forums you know that the colors are Ripe Persimmon ~ somewhere between orange/red family; Seedless Preserves ~ a smokey deep purple and Gathered Twigs.   Of the 3 Gathered Twigs is my least favorite.  I would have much preferred to have another hue added to the Yellow color family for Autumn but that's just me.

  5. It's so hard because they are all so awesome! My fave from the new line is Gathered Twigs and from the previous releases it would have to be Faded Jeans...am a huge denim lover! Can you buy denim undies???

  6. I like the new persimmon the best! My favorite of the old one is all of them at one time or another. Spiced Marmalade and scattered straw probably get used the most but I wouldn't part with any of them! Thanks for a chance to win the new ones!!

  8. Hi Roni -

I had not thought there was much of a color differene with these new inks. But after your little demo, I realize there is a big difference. My favorite of the old colors are (I have 2) Broken China and Vintage Photo. Of the new ones, its a toss up between Seedless Grape or Ripe Persimmon.

  9. Ripe Persimmon is the one I gravitate towards in this bunch.

My go to fave DI is Tea Dye. Kind of a blah color considering that great pallette...

    ReplyDelete
  10. I would have to say that Riper Persimmon would probably be my favorite. My favorite oldie but goodies would be Peeled Paint although I use Vintage Photo a lot. I would just love these inks to do just what you said...close some gaps. Thank you so much for this post it was great to see the colors laid out like that. God bless!

  12. I'm going to have to go with Ripe Persimmon,, and as far as old colors go...I don't have any but what I see around blog land I really like Broken China

    ReplyDelete
  13. I really love those colors, just not sure if/when I'm going to be able to purchase them this fall. I want to be able to find them for less than market price, but considering the supply and demand for this things I may have a tough time.

  14. I'm loving that Ripe Persimmon color, as well, and my favorite old color is Pumice which is great for aging things, or tying other colors together. I also like antique linen for the same purposes. Thanks for the info & appreciate you showing how the new colors fit into Ranger's DI "color wheel". This new color set certainly sold quickly, and I'm glad they will sell them again next year for those of us who missed out. Wonder what the "winter" colors will be...

  15. ohhh the new would be Gathered twigs--cause I love the "earthy" colors and for the old one it would be the (something??dried maybe??) marigold. I dont have any of the TH inks or pads I am still in the dark ages I guess

  16. I am with you!! Love the ripe persimmon and that color family! Thanks for all you do.

  19. Of course I would love to win... My favorite new one is the seedless preserves. And my favorite old one is the dusty marigold. I think something just a little darker than marigold but more orange than brown would be wonderful, but that's just me!

  25. When I first saw these, I thought that Seedless Preserves would become my fave. But now that I've seen how the colors fit in with the other DI's, I definitely love the Ripe Persimon!! Thanks for the opportunity!!

  26. I have tried to find these to purchase with no luck. I really like the Seedless Preserves. At present I only own two DI pads...Weathered Wood and Victorian Velvet and have yet to use the latter so...Weathered Wood must be my favorite old color. :o)
I'll be using them in my art journal of techniques you are teaching. Gotta gather, get busy and "Faux Beeswax"...

  27. What an awesome way to present these! I love the Seedless preserves. I've been reaching a lot for my Broken China lately. TFS!!!

  30. Definitely Ripe Persimmon! My old favorite is walnut stain because I use it so much. But I am also very partial to broken china. Thanks so much for doing this.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ripe Persimmon is my fav for sure, as for the old ones, I think I have to say Walnut Stain...I use it on everything! I also do love broken china and weathered wood...so hard to choose a fav when they're all so fabulous! Thanks for the chance to win them!

    ReplyDelete
  32. My fave is Seedless Preserves .

My old fave...very hard to choose...the one I use most: Mustard Seed.

    Thanks for this chance.

  33. It's very difficult to pick a favourite as there is a place for all of them as you've demonstrated. However, as I'm a purple fan, I must say my fav is the Seedless Preserves. My fav of the exsisting colours is Dusty Concord - although there are so many others I love too!
Thanks for the chance of winning a set.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I love purple, so my new favorite is Seedless Preserves and my old favorite is Dusty Concord! Thank you for the chance to win these wonderful ink colors!

  35. As I love shades of purple, my favourite new colour definitely is Seedless Preserves! Thanks for giving us the chance to win.

  36. Hi Roni, Seedless Preserves is my favourite new colour, I'm a purple girl through and through, and will be till the day I die! My favourite old colour, that's a hard one, I love so many! The most useful are Antique Linen and Vintage Photo for me, but I think Tattered Rose has to be my favourite, because I love Vintage things so much, add a bit of lace, and you are there.
Your commparison between the colours is really helpful, and they do help fill the gaps, can't wait to see the Winter colours. Judith xx

  37. since I am a PURPLE freak I LOVE the new Seedless Grape...my od fav was the Dusty Concord...I agree we need the refills and I think these new colors should stay in distribution don;t take my purple away please.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I thought I would like the Seedless Preserves the best, but from your samples I like the Ripe Persimmon a bit better. I have enough browns that the Twigs color is not a must-have. Thanks for doing the swatches! Of the old colors, I love Broken China.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think my new favorite is Seedless Preserves. My old favorite is a combination of Spiced Marmalade and Rusty Hinge. They just seem to work with everything. On Tim's video, the Twigs one looked sort of greenish brown, which I think I will like. I like them all, though! I am pretty distressed about no re-inkers, but I am fortunate that I live in humid south Florida, so the pads don't dry out very fast.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Purple is an attractant and wow, is this a great purple! I like Seedless Preserves!

    ReplyDelete
  41. ummm, you ask the hardest questions! OK,...I have to go with the Seedless Preserves for the new favorite (I mean, it's purple, what more could anyone ask for) and the old one would be Walnut Stain. I would have a hard time doing without that one.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I really liked seeing that comparison. I'm new to the distress inks so I haven't really seen the different colours side by side that way. It did help me not only to see what the new colours look like in comparison, but also gave me more of an idea of which brown I should get.

I love purple -- from dusty lilac to dramatic deep violets -- som Seedless Preserves is my fave, closely followed by Ripe Persimmon. As I'm pretty new to the DIs I don't really have an old fave, but I think Peeled Paint and Antique Linen look nice and useful for me.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ripe Persimmon is my favorite...so very Fall like! My oldie but goodie is Vintage Photo. Thanks for the chance to win this set. They are nowhere to be found around me.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Fave new color = ripe persimmon
Fave old color = vintage photo, of course! Thanks for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I luv deep, rich orange colors so Ripe Persimmon is a lovely color. However, to my surprise the Seedless Preserves is my favorite. Eventhough purple compliments orange quite nicely I'm not a purple kind of gal.

    ReplyDelete
  46. A favorite, new and old? How absolutely IMPOSSIBLE!

As you force me to pick, I would say that since I'm a vintage fan the tea dye is my old fave. I reach for that first to start the distressing process.

The newest colors...well, they're not high on the vintage list as they're eye-popping, but the Seedless Preserves is something that draws me in, whether I'd use it or not! Perhaps for a bit of shading around the edges... :-)

  49. My favorite of the 3 new ones is Ripe Persimmon. My favorites of the 'old' colors is hard to call... they are all good. The DI is my ink of choice too. I guess I'd have to choose Vintage Photo and Bundled Sage. Thanks for the give away... keeping my fingers, toes and everything else crossed!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Holy DI! The new colors are great. Love the Ripe Persimmon. As far as old colors, its hard to pick, but I'm using a lot of Broken China and Peeled Paint lately. Must be a "phase" thing, LOL.

Thanks for the comparison, it was helpful to see the colors in context.

  51. Hi Roni

Those colors are beautiful. I love most Seedless Preserves and my old favorite is Faded Jeans.

Thanks for the opportunity to win. I'll cross my fingers...and...toes.

  52. The new Ripe Persimmon is definitely my fav! Of the older colors, my favorite is Walnut Stain for it's versatility (and I love Stormy Sky, too). Very sad they're not offering reinkers for the new colors. :(

  55. My favorite LE DI is definitely Seedless Preserves - what a great purple - *aww ;-)
My old favorite is hard to pick...I think I have to go with two old favorites: frayed burlap and pumice stone - gotta love those greyish tones.
thanks for designing a 'color wheel' for us :D interesting to see where the new colours fit in
Still thinking what the winter colours could be.... maybe a new darker grey, or a frosty light blue

    ReplyDelete
  56. pumice stone is my old favorite and my new favorite is gathered twigs, followed close by seedless preserves and ripe persimmon

  57. My new colour favourite is easy I love Seedless Preserves, I can see using that in a lot of my projects, but I'm sure if I ever get them in my hot little hands, they will all become my favourites!
As for the old colours, that is so tough, I love Broken China and use Bundled Sage on almost every project but I also love Pumice Stone because it is so versatile. It really depends on the project I'm working on.Thanks for the chance, and I loved your colour wheel, it creatively shows where every colour sits on the wheel and is a very handy sample.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Thanks for the colour swatches - very helpful! My old fave is a toss between Pumice Stone & Vintage Photo. Both are versatile. My new fave may be the Persimmon. Simply luscious!
I, too am curious as to the stamp you used. Love it! Please tell :)
Thanks for teh chance to win.

  67. Wow, thanks for showing us how the new colors fit in with the existing! I am with you though, on wishing they had done a yellow hued shade rather than another brown. My favorite of the new shades is Ripe Persimmon....it's so rich and just pops!
My first Distress Ink was vintage photo and I have to say that is still one of my favorites..but a new favorite is Pumice!

    ReplyDelete
  68. This is a hard choice. I'm thinking it's a tie between Seedless Preserves and Ripe Persimmon. If I could only have one I guess it would be Seedless Perserves.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Ripe persimmon is definitely my favourite new colour! great for not only Autumn but for so many other projects - its bright and strong! My old favourite has to be Barn Door - I love my bright and stong colours!! but then antique linen is used all the time, so this one has to be the most useful!! It really is very difficult to choose, isn't it? lol

    ReplyDelete
  70. Thanks for the great color comparison showing how these new colors look. Until now I had only seen the lids and this certainly gives a better example of what the colors actually look like!! So now my favorite has changed!!! I'd have to say that the Ripe Persimmon is now my #1 favorite to be used with my older #1 fav: fired brick!! Again, thanks for being the go-to gal with all the info!!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I am glad you did the comparison, at first glance they didn't look that different. I like the Ripe Persimmon myself, old favorite? Weathered Wood. I love that color.

    ReplyDelete
  72. My new favorite is the Seedless Preserves, because purple is my favorite color. My old favorite is the Walnut Stain, I seem to use it the most.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Thanks for the comparison. My favorite is the Ripe Persimmon and my favorite "old" DI is Wild Honey (at least today). I am hoping that these seasonal colours will be so popular that Ranger will decide to make re-inkers available as well.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I love the Seedless Preserves. I think I use Antique Linen and Tumbled Glass the most out of the older distress inks.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I think my fav new color is Ripe Persimmon, because it is just so 'fall' in color. My favorite old color is Weathered Wood. I love blues and wish there were more reinkers so we could hold onto our favorites that speak to us.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I totally agree ~ Seedless Preserves my fave, and then Ripe Persimmon of the new colors, but I can see no need for Gathered Twigs. There are so many great DI browns already, could've needed another yellow or blue instead :)

My all time fave color Distress ink is Vitage Photo ~ I use it every time i color it seems! ~ with Tattered Rose a close second (for all the skin coloring needs).

Thanks for a chance to win theese! ♥
