Monday I shared how I altered the pencils included in a paper mache' pencils set I rec'd last year in a mystery box from USArtQuest.
I decided on Steampunk theme due to all the fun metallic's so I stamped gears all over the tissue using StazOn ink.
I then used original Creative Medium to adhere the tissue to each half of the pencil case. I was very careful not to get any adhesive on the exposed area of the case that the lid slips over. It's a tight fit to begin with so I didn't want to make it so the lid wouldn't go on. I set each half aside to dry.
Once the entire case was dry I used Sponge Daubers and the Delicata Quad (bronze, copper, gold & silver) to ink up the entire case top and bottom.
While the ink on the case was drying I die-cut lots of little gears. Aren't those tiny ones just darling? I love gear dies...they happen to be Memory Box gears.
And I inked all of those up using the same inks.
Now that the case is dry I added the gears here and there over both the top and bottom of the pencil case using Antique Creative Medium (as you can see it's my fav - you can see the bottom of the jar - eeek! Time to get some more!!). This medium has a wonderful vintage look once dry and unifies the entire piece.
And here's how it turned out.....
And all of the pencils tucked inside!
Time for the give-away! To enter for your chance to win either the finished Steampunk pencil case or the second ready to alter pencil case simply leave a comment about what you're currently working on. You have until 4-20-15 to post your comment to be entered to win! I'll choose 2 lucky winners.
I'm currently infatuated with Color Burst powders and have been playing with them on and off since I got them. I like to experiment and see what all I can do with them. As a matter of fact I think I'm going to share one or two of those experiments with you tomorrow!
