More Watercolor Window Frame Fun!

Earlier this month I shared a fun technique challenge I was able to choose for July over at Club Scrap.  Today I have several more examples of this wicked technique and a couple little variations to spice it up a bit.

This card example - is made using the original technique... a couple of nice stamped images in opposing corners and a watercolor frame around the edge.  I used green pen to emphasize the watercolor window.

The "Relax" card was stamped in the same fashion (images in opposing corners) but instead of using a yellow marker to highlight the frame I used a coordinating color to the watercolor frame.  I think it helps set off the flowers a bit more and gives it a bit more substance.

Just a note - to stamp the flowers I colored the stamps with markers then spritzed with Shimmer Mist and pressed onto the watercolor paper and left for a few seconds.  This creates a lovely watercolor effect and a slight shimmer which you can barely see on the flower in the upper corner.  It shows up much better in person.

And for this final card - Birthdays. - I interspersed the stamped images not just in the corners but around the frame and I tossed in a tiny sentiment as well.  The frame was again highlighted by a coordinating color - Rose Red in this case.

So there you go...a couple little tricks to add to this fun technique.  Hope you give it a try - you'll be amazed at how easy and fun it is to add to your cards.

A Bit 'O Christmas....

Today I am sharing a bit 'o Christmas inspiration with you all.  JFF stamps is celebrating Christmas in July which made me shutter at first but actually, once I got going I had so much fun I ended up making several cards today.

Embossed background with a fun Stamptangle Stocking over top.

This card was originally stamped by coloring the image with markers but I didn't like how simple it was so I went over each area with StazOn Studio Glaze for a lovely effect.  Now it has some shine and dimension.  (Clean and simple is so hard for me!)

This card was really fun...I stamped and embossed the Poinsetta Frame on watercolor paper then painted on Brusho Colour Crystals in various areas.  Love how it turned out!

Another Brusho CC card...this one was wet and then sprinkled the Brusho over top...Lime and Leaf Green.

Just For Fun Stamps (all)
IMAGINE Crafts featuring Tsukineko: VersaMark ink, Embossing Powders, Memento Dye Inks, Memento Dual Tip Markers; StazOn Studio Glaze

Art Squares ATC's

Recently I had the pleasure of being asked to create using Art Squares by Inchie Arts.  Originally they started out offering - Inchies of course but since their inception 8 years ago they have added a whole host of sizes of their fine art squares.  These squares are cut from museum grade preservation matboard which is thicker than the usual chipboard most companies offer.  This matboard is perfect for use with all sorts of watercolor and mixed media techniques so popular right now.

As I mentioned they come in a variety of sizes - 1", 1.5", 2", 3", 4" and ATC's - 2.5" x 3.5" which I will be playing with today.

I figured that Brushos would be the perfect "wet" technique to try out on these ATC's since I tend to go a bit heavy on the wet.  I started off by sprinkling Turquoise, Orange and Rose Red powders on the ATC.

Instead of water I decided to use "Sparkle" Shimmer Mist for an extra kick.  I added lots....

and here's what they looked like while drying...

I didn't waste any of the Brusho's liquid though - I monoprinted a couple of the ATC's and used the edge of one of the ATC's to add a frame by simply swiping the color and letting it run down the edge.

And here's what they looked like...awesome huh?  The sparkle is amazing and adds a whole new dimension to the Brushos!  I have to say the ATC's didn't warp, buckle, etc....  they took the liquid perfectly and the colors are beautiful and vivid.

I only had time to finish a couple ATC's but I stamped on them, used inks and stencils and even markers and they both turned out great.

Here are my 2 finished ATC's....
(All stamps and stencils are from ClubScrap.com)

I'll have more Art Square fun to share with you in the near future...hope you stop by and check it out!

Christmas in July?

Yep, Just For Fun Rubber Stamps is celebrating Christmas in July and I've got a couple of fun cards to share with you today...both using the same StampTangle Holly stamp.

The first card is my attempt at a CAS Christmas Card....all that white space is calling for some glitter or more stamping or something but I left it alone ;)

My second card was made using Brusho Colour Crystals.  LOVE how the green bled into the red don't you?  Those crystals are just so pretty.  I then stamped the holly on the background and a few extras on some white cardstock.

Supplies:

Just For Fun Rubber Stamps - Stamptangle Holly Leaf
IMAGINE Crafts featuring Tsukineko - Memento Dye Inks - Tuxedo Black, Love Letter, Bamboo Leaf

Stripe of Color

Sometimes it's fun to add a really bright stripe of color to your cards.  It makes such a striking statement against the white background don't you think?

Here's how I did it...

I started out by placing 2 pieces of washi tape on my card panel.  I used the grid ruler to make sure they were straight.

Next I took my sponge daubers and an assortment of Memento Dye Inks and added some here and there.

For this card I am using New Sprout (green); Love Letter (red), Angel Pink and Cantaloupe which corresponds to this month's challenge colors over at House of Cards July Challenge.

Next I stamped a bit of text over the stripe using Grey Flannel ink.

I then removed the tape, stamped my main image and a sentiment; edged the panel using Grey Flannel then mounted it on the pink card base.

Oh so easy with amazing results every time!  The best part of it is you can change the colors to match your theme, a season, holiday, etc.
