31 Days of Halloween

Hello Friends

Day 6 in the 31 Days of Halloween!

Today I have a creation featuring stamps from Lost Coast Designs/Carmen's Veranda.

Isn't this a perfect image for Halloween?  The Goth Raven was stamped and embossed then painted with Kuretake Gansai Tambi's purple iridescent watercolor. It has such a lovely shimmer IRL.

I did color the tongue with a Memento Marker to really pack in the color.

The background pattern papers are from Authentique's Nightfall collection.

Hope you're having a wonderfully frightful October!

Supplies:

Lost Coast Designs - Goth Raven
Imagine - VersaFine Clair - Nocturne, Black Embossing Powder, Memento Dual Tip Marker

World Card Making Day 2018 - My Work Space

Hello my Inky Friends!
Happy World Card Making Day 2018!!!

Challenge #1 - My Space

I am participating in a joint WCMD celebration today with Joy Clair Stamps.  They challenged us to post photos of our work space...  Normally I wouldn't do this because my space is a controlled chaos...I say controlled because it is contained in my room - LOL!!  Beyond that it's just plain artsy chaos.

Here goes....(remember what your Mother said...if you can't say anything nice - LOL!!)

My work table...yes I know...
I told you controlled artsy chaos.

It doesn't all match,
it's not fancy,
it's not a show place,
expensive or exactly an organizational success
but it works for me.

I have tried to get rid of the piles but they always return...
I have given up on trying to eliminate them,
I just try to keep them tidied up enough
so they don't come crashing down around me ;)  LOL!!

This piece is one of my main storage/display cabinets. It holds a special place in my heart because it came from my grandma's house. It was in her old house, in the kitchen, when I was a little kid...brings back fond memories.  It has glass slide doors for the upper portion but I never put them in...I knew it was going to be full.

This is what I really wanted to show you - it's my new way to store my clear stamps. I got tired of trying to find more trays to hold them so I went this route.  It is a metal sock dryer that came with little spring clips (to hold the socks for drying).  I removed all of the clips (and saved them for a future project) (a.k.a. - pack rat) and hung it up so it swung freely and could be twirled around as needed.

I bought some bull nose clips with little hooks on amazon and clipped one to the top of each set of stamps...

Then I hung them all up on the rack!

It works like a charm and it's so easy to locate just the set I want.
I am so happy with the whole set up.

So there you go...
a rare peek into the creative chaos I call home!

InkTober2018 - Day 6 - Drool

Happy Day All!

Day 6 of InkTober 2018

Today's prompt...drool.

I think this is pretty self explanatory - LOL!!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 5

Happy Friday everyone!
I hope you've had a fine week.  Any fun plans for the weekend?
Mom, Morgan and I are headed to Fort Wayne for the scrap/stamp event.
Should be fun as we don't have any scrapbook stores in our area anymore.

Today I have a fun Halloween card to share with you...

(All stamps are JFF Stamps)

Images are stamped on kraft paper with VersaFine Clair ink then colored with Prismacolor Colored Pencils.  They are mounted on strips of various halloween paper from my stash.  I added the twine for a bit of texture and interest.

Hope you all have a super weekend!!

InkTober 2018 - Day 5 - Chicken

InkTober 2018

Chicken....

Not very imaginative but hey, it's a chicken :)

I miss having chickens - we can't have them out at the farm anymore...we have viscous critters lurking that want to eat them when we're not there.  Our town doesn't allow folks to have"farm animals" at their houses so no more chickens :(  Sucks because they are so much fun...they are just like people with their own personalities, quirks and habits.

InkTober 2018 - Day 4 - Spell

Welcome back friends for another day of InkTober 2018!

Today's prompt was "Spell".

I took a bit different route than what most people would think...

I love to read - if you find an author that you just click with they can weave a spell and carry you off on a tale of intrigue, mystery, romance depending on the book.  I read every night before bed to relax and I've found several authors that I just can't put down.  To me they are the magicians and their books are the spell.

InkTober 2018 - Day 3 Roasted

Welcome back to day 3 of InkTober 2018.

Today's prompt - Roasted...

LOL...I had a hard time with fire - didn't look like fire till I added the color ;)  Sorry, just not the best at drawing so color it was.  I do like how my marshmallows on a stick turned out though.  They look good enough to eat...at least to me they do but then again, maybe I'm just hungry for roasted marshmallows.  Haven't had any all summer long and obviously I need some ;)  LOL!!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 2

Today's card for the 31 Days of Halloween is a nod to the InkTober challenge using just black and white.  I tell you I wanted to flick some colored ink, pigment powders or something on it to add color but I refrained.

I worked on the background and main image of this card at the same time.  I cut the card panel and die-cut the circle from white cardstock and sat it side by side on my work station.  I inked up the bats really well with VersaFine Clair Nocturne (black) ink and stamped it on the card panel then without adding any additional ink I stamped it on the circle so it was more of a ghost image and repeated until I was satisfied with both.  Added the sentiment, matted the circle with a bit of halloween pattern paper and used double stick foam tape to add it to the card.

And that's that!

Have an inky day friends!

InkTober 2018 - Day 2 - Tranquil

Hello Friends!

I'm back with my 2nd entry in the InkTober 2018 challenge.  Today's prompt was "Tranquil".  This one was really hard for me. The original idea for this challenge was to get people into drawing each day using pen and ink.  Since it's conception though it's expanded to more elaborate drawings with colored inks and such.  I've tried to stay true to the original idea but I tell you my tranquil stacked rocks just looked like odd shaped blobs of nothing to me so I had to color.

I tried to sparingly use my watercolor brush paired with Memento Dye Inks - London Fog, Flannel Grey, Desert Sand and Rich Cocoa.     The stones are supposed to be sitting on the beach by  the ocean but it doesn't really look like it...again, it needs color IMO.  I never realized how hard this was going to be...I'm so used to adding color to most everything I make, it's really a challenge not to.

I also have to say I'm not posting these on the InkTober FB groups...just too chicken after the amazing drawings I saw yesterday.

Well, anyway, it's a start.
Hopefully it will get easier as the month goes on.

Are you up for the challenge?

October 2018

Happy October 2018!!

This month is going to be a very full month and I wanted to give you a heads up so you know what all is going on...

First off October means Halloween!  YES :)  I know some of you don't get into Halloween but I love it.  It's fun to be scared and some studies show it's actually good for you every once in a while.  Along with Lost Coast Designs I will be participating in the 31 Days of Halloween... Every day on the LCD/CV blog there will be a Halloween themed post - I will be posting my creations here as well with a few extras not related to the LCD postings.  I probably won't hit every day but I'll have lots of fun Halloween in store for you.

Here is my first post for the 31 Days of Halloween...It was made using Rinea Foiled Papers from the Haunted Foiled Paper Variety Pack, Spellbinders & Sizzix dies and a Sizzix embossing folder.

A friend introduced me to InkTober 2018.  It's a challenge to get you to into making one ink drawing every day...starting in October and beyond. There is a list of prompts for each day (below) that will help get you moving.  Again, I probably won't hit every day but I'm gonna try.

Here is my first drawing...the prompt was poisonous...I've always liked the look of these mushrooms so I went with it.  I think I am going to have to re-draw this on some watercolor paper and paint these...they are so cool looking.

There is also lots going on with other design team events...October 6th is World Card Making Day and I will be participating in conjunction with Joy Clair Stamps and sharing a few posts through out the day. Lots of fun and give-aways on their blog as well so you'll want to check it all out.

Mid-October (18th & 19th) Imagine and Crackerbox/So Suzy's Stamps will be hosting a blog hop that I will be participating in.  I can't wait for you to see these stamps...they are so stinkin' cute! I was asked to make a single card but I had so much fun I made two and if I have time between now and then I may make a couple more.

AND

I have a few other surprises in store...
so I hope you join me in this very full month of October!
