Follow Me into the Night My Love... & Give A Way!!

July's Challenge over at
Altered Pages is Dreamy Nights!

Well, there are SOOOOOOOOO many cool collage pages available at Altered Pages that fit this theme it was hard to decide.  In the end I went with a woman from the American Beauties page and a shot of Paris at Night, an Eiffel Tower image and I threw a Blue Moon in for good measure!

Follow Me into the Night
My Love....

Dreamy Nights - AP July 021
Here's what I did...
I love to recycle things so I pulled a piece of an old game board from my stash and cut it to the size I wanted my "canvas" to be.

I found a great piece of vintage sheet music for the background...
Café De Paris!
Dreamy Nights - AP July 002
I glued it down with Collage Pauge, let it dry and sanded off the excess.

I then covered the sheet music with a layer of light gesso blended with water.
I still wanted the music to show through, just not as strong as it was.

At this point I let all of my layers dry very well.

Then it was time to add some color...
I scribbled on several colors of Gelatos across the board.

I gave it a few squirts of water then blended with the same brush I used for the gesso.

I turned my brush and added some nifty faux texture.

Once the gelatos had a chance to dry I used a drawing pencil to write a little love story over the upper 2/3rds of the board.

I didn't want anyone to really be able to read it so I smudged it around with my hand to blur it up a bit.  More mysterious this way....only I know what it really says ;P  LOL!!!

I printed off a couple images onto Transfer Artist Paper.  If you've never worked with this stuff you need to.  It's amazing.  It's the easiest way to transfer an image onto anything...seriously ~ I've tried about 30-40 different methods and this is THE BEST!
The cool thing, it works with ink jet printed images but you can also stamp on this paper, color it, write on it, etc.  It all transfers!  It's wonderful.  I will be sharing more about this wonder paper in the near future but I just wanted to give you the heads up incase you ran across it in your travels.

(here's where I started playing and forgot to take photos)
I ironed the moon on then glued down the Eiffel Tower image (which was colored with Gelatos).  Over top the Eiffel Tower I ironed on the Paris at Night image.
I added a bit of color to the moon and city image; stamped a few flourishes then spritzed the whole canvas with Tsukineko Shimmer Mist. (which is what I'm drying in this photo).

Next I fussy cut then colored the American Beauty with Niji Pearlescent Watercolors.
I added a bit of double stick foam tape to the back to pop her off the background.

I then stamped the sentiment in French and applied a bit of Copper leafing foil to the edges.
And there you have it....
