Mom Gothic Arch - Life Lessons - Pick 10

As you know...I love quotes, quips, sayings and sentiments ~ I have many many lists here on the blog in case you didn't know.... Quotes.  It will come as no surprise that we are going to be using some for this project as well.

If you joined me for our friendship book we made last year you'll remember the book was built around a funny little e-mail that I rec'd that had some great quotes and quips about friends.   Well the idea for this book again started off as an e-mail ~ this time from my brother.  It was titled 7% ~ it meant that something like only 7% of the people who rec'd the e-mail who got it was going to pass it on.

Basically the e-mail had a list of 45 life lessons supposedly written by a 90 year old woman ~ Regina Brett and published in The Plain Dealer from Cleveland Ohio.    I don't ever take stories behind an e-mail like this at face value so I did some searching and there really is a Regina Brett, she really did write these little life lessons down and she really does write for the Plain Dealer but she is so not 90 years old!  (poor woman, that would suck for people to double your age w/o even seeing you - lol!!)

As it turns out she wrote these 45 Life Lessons the day before her 45th birthday (to get the full story check out ~ the FAQ section of her website).  She added 5 more lessons when she turned 50 but we'll stick with the original 45.

Since 45 Arches / pages would take a long LONG time to complete I thought we could narrow it down to your favorite 10 quotes.  We'll add one quote to each arch we make.

I am actually thinking about making this into a book for my soon to be DIL.  It's contains some good advice to live by :)

Here is the list...
45 Life Lessons

So there you go...between choosing your GA pattern and the 10 quotes you'll be using I think that is enough work for this week.  I'll be starting off next week with our first arch so you'll have all weekend to decide :)

Have fun and I hope you decide to join in on the fun!!

  1. This is going to be such a cool project! I've chosen my arch and the ten quotes. Can't wait to get started on the construction! Anne, yourmainestamper

  2. Where do you get the arch? Sounds fun. Thanks

  3. Never mind, my bad didn't read far enough down. I see about the arches now.

  4. looking forward to this project... :)

  5. Great quotes - how to chose only 10?? *lol*
Won't be at home next week to take part in the first step - but at least I have a lot of time to decide *smile* and then I'll use the weekend to follow up ...
I am quite curious about what's to come!

  6. Am very tempted to give this a go!!

Would cereal box cardboard be strong enough to withstand the techniques for the pages, with thicker board just for the covers?

Also, do the pages have to be made into a book, or can they be connected into an accordian style? (Using the narrow arch)

Now, just have to choose 10 quotes.

  7. OK - I have the quotes narrowed down to about 30...hmmm.
I'm out of town next week, too, but will be ready to play when I get back!

  8. Love this idea! And those quotes are all great. It will be difficult to choose 10.
By the way, I'm new to your blog. LOL I discovered you when I did a search for "card sentiments". However, I found your blog so wonderful and intriguing I've not even gotten around to checking out your sentiments. :)

I'm off to check out the GAs now.

  9. My mind's spinning with ideas! I lso would like to know about the weight of the chipcoard/cardboard, etc. I'm sure we're getting ahead of ourselves. Knowing you, you'll let us know next week.

  10. Wow! These really are great thoughts! It might be hard to narrow it down to just 10, but I'll try! Can't wait to get started!

  11. Okay Roni, I've chosen my quotes, and my shape. I'm ready and waiting, I think it will be an inspirational book for my Daughter who is studying at University, owing to the time difference in Mother's Day here compared to in the U.S. So, my quotes have been chosen with that in mind. Looking forward to this now! Judith xx

  12. These quotes are good, but since they aren't really "mom" related, I'd like to find my own quotes to use instead, or maybe even use sayings that my mom says. Hope that is okay.

  13. OOOH this will be fun! Some of those quotes actually hit home with me and I can see some Facebook status updates. :) Can't wait for this project!
I'm still here everyday even though I don't post daily. Life is busy right now but want you to know I love your blog!!!

Thanks for your thoughts and comments!
