2017 Texture Calendar - July

Welcome back to another installment of the Texture Calendar!  We are up to July and being from the US I thought it only appropriate to celebrate the RW&B - I was looking around my studio looking for nice RWB items and spotted my stripe twine. PERFECT!

Embedding twine, ribbon, fibers, yarns, lace, etc. are perfect for creating texture on a project! Depending on the size and amount of materials you add you can create a lot or a little texture perfect for whatever you are working on.

Since this calendar page is July, I am using red/white; blue/white and white twine.
I cut it to approx. 12-18" (I only had a short piece of the white).

I started off by spreading around a dollop of Sparklie Collage Pauge over the calendar page.

The white twine was then randomly placed on the page.

I used the paint brush to push the twine down into the glue.

And this step was repeated for the blue 

And red twine.

I had some tiny gold and silver sequin stars in my stash so I sprinkled a few of these over the page as well.  The final step was to let the glue dry....mine took about 14 hours to dry.  It will just depend on how much glue you use and the weather conditions.

  

Add the calendar and you're all set!

Cards Cards and More Cards

Just havin' fun working on some cards using Club Scrap Kit - Succulents.

Normally I'm not a pastel person but I love the soft colors of this kit.  I am also totally in love with Succulents now...  I've even been on the lookout for a few real ones to brighten up our home.  I don't currently have any plants because in the past we've always had cats that like to eat anything green and alive in our house.  It was a habit I guess that we can change since we don't have anymore felines sharing our space.

Anyway, here are my creations...

This card was made for a fancy fold challenge...

After I was finished I realized the ink didn't quite match..

oh well, it was the last thing I added and wasn't going to redo at that point.

The following cards were made using Club Scrap's Card Making Idea Deck.

It was for a challenge as well...they pull a card from the deck (of 52)

(this card was Queen of Diamonds) and you make your cards using 

the diagram.  It was the first time I played and it was fun!

This particular card made 2 "Z" fold cards

And 2 regular cards.

I have been on a gemstone kick lately if you couldn't tell - LOL!!

Succulents Clipboard Collage

Happy Day everyone!  I hope you've all had a super week so far...today I wanted to share a clipboard collage I made using this month's Club Scrap Kit - Succulents!  This is such a lovely kit - soft colors and beautiful images & stamps.

I think this is collage is going to be perfect to hang up for March...

the pretty colors with a hope of growth and life.

I love the stamps for this kit...

there are lots of different pots that you can fill with

one or lots of different succulents!

By using a variety of green inks you can create a pretty little plantscape.

Fireworks! Wonderful Canvas

Today I wanted to share my "Wonderful" Canvas with you!  The sentiment reads "Always believe something wonderful is about to happen."  Sometimes that's easier said that done but I thought this canvas would be a nice reminder to keep positive thoughts in mind.

It's made using Imagines new larger size bottles of Fireworks! Spray....a full 2oz size now!!  I started off by affixing a sheet of corrugated paper to an art board.  I scrapped a bit of gesso here and there just to give a different texture/look to certain areas and to add a bit of interest.  Next I spritzed a puddle of the ink spray on the canvas while it was laying flat... 

Then quickly tilted it into the upright position to let the inks run.

I repeated this several times using New Sprout, Rose Bud and Bahama Blue sprays.

This photo gives you just a hint of the amazing shimmer that you get from the Fireworks! Spray....  It is so lovely in person, I wish you could see the full effect!

Roses from Dad

My dad is a sweetie, every year for Valentine's Day he gets us girls some sort of flowers.  Well this year he outdid himself and found these.....

I don't have a clue how they are created but they are totally awesome!!

These aren't sprayed with color (like some flowers are) the color is actually in the petals.

They are just the coolest flowers I've ever seen.

What's really neat as the petals open more the edges get darker and darker -

It's like they have been water colored with a wild brush.

2017 Texture Calendar - June

Welcome Back...I was MIA last week due to business/office stuff but I got to play over the weekend so I'm excited to share!!

Today we'll pick up our Texture calendar - June page.  I don't know about where you live but June is when summer kicks into high gear here in Indiana. Fairs, Antique Tractor Shows, Hay time, etc...and most of all - SUNSHINE!  February is a dreary time of year - everything brown and grey, it feels like mother nature is taking a nap and I sorely miss the sunshine of summer which is why I chose to color this page yellow!

This month's page texture is created by ephemera... stuff you find in your everyday life (new or old).  Personally I LOVE ephemera and you'd be surprised at how much texture you can find.  Today I'm using a bit of new and a bit of old to comprise my collage of textures...wall paper bits, paper doily (from a box of chocolates), vintage store trading stamps, mesh from a bag of garlic, tissue from an invoice book.  I'm also using a few bits from pages that create a visual texture - sheet music, maps, ledger papers, dictionary pages, etc.

I started off by gluing everything down

using Shimmer Creative Medium.

Trimmed off the excess once dry.

I chose 3 different colors of Yellow Gelatos 

that I scribbled over the page.

I spread and blended the colors together with my fingers.

I don't know why but 

I'm just not satisfied with the results when I use other "tools".

I finished off the page with my calendar

and some "summery" embellishments.

Just Add Ink #345 - Love Grows Here

Today I wanted to share a card that I made using the technique of "Watercolor without Lines" and a new stamp from Club Scrap's February kit - Succulents.....  The card lay-out was made off of the sketch at Just Add Ink #345.

And here's how I made it....

I started off by stamping the hen using New Sprout Memento Ink 

- it's a really nice light green.

Next I started laying on color using Kuretake watercolors.

I continued to add layers

Until I was satisfied with the results!

I trimmed it and added it to my card below...

Granny Square Valentine's Day Card

I am so excited to share the Valentine's Day card I made for my Grandma this year...  A few weeks ago I told you about some hand-carved rubber stamps I bought on Etsy. Well, this is one of the cards I made using the granny square stamp! Don't you just love it!  I am thrilled with how the card came out and I can't wait to give it to my grandma.  She's in a nursing home now and I hope this will brighten her day.

Rose Pink

This month Imagine has chosen rose pink for it's color of the month and what a perfect color for the month of love!

And this is what I created!!

I had so much fun making this card using all sorts of fun pink products from Imagine...I started off by spritzing both the card panel and the flower panel with Fireworks! Ink Spray.  I used Rose Bud and depending on how much you use you can achieve a very light pink (on the flower panel) or a really intense darker shimmery pink (on the card base).  I also used the Fireworks! spray on the bow.

After the backgrounds were dry I set out to make them each unique.  A layer of Iridescent Pink Creative Medium was applied over a stencil for the card base panel. As you can see in the above image it has a lovely shimmer once dry.  I stamped the flowers on the main panel using Angel Pink which is the lighter of the two and Rose Bud Memento Dye Inks.

I added little pops of color using irRESISTible Pico Embellishers in Wedding Dress (white) and Electric Pink.

The flowers and sentiment are both from Unity Stamp Co.

I hope you enjoy my interpretation of Rose Pink.
