2014 Technique Calendar - March - Tape Ink Transfer

2014 Technique Calendar
March
Tape Ink Transfer Technique

I wanted to share a really fun inky technique for Marches calendar page....one that will have you "Ink Stained" from head to toe...o.k....maybe not that much but it is loads of fun.

Supplies:

Tag
Ink
Masking Tape (or any other tape you have on hand)
Stamps
Embellishments

Instructions

1.  Tear off one or more strips of *tape anywhere from 3-10" long.

*Tape - you could use just about any tape you have on hand.  Masking or painters tape works great because it usually has lots of texture to it but washi tape works equally well.  You could in a pinch use scotch tape or even packing tape trimmed down to size.

I am using 3 different widths of tape ~ one decorative masking tape and two different widths of washi tape.

2. Pick up your tape and press the sticky side onto your ink pad.  Yes, your fingers will become ink covered by the time we have finished!

3. Now carefully place the inked piece of tape on your paper/tag.

4. Gently press the tape so most of the sticky/inky tape makes contact with the paper.

5. Remove the tape and you'll have a way cool distressed looking ink line.

6. Repeat steps 2-5 using one or more colors of ink and/or strips of tape until you're satisfied with the design.  I started out using one color with the wide tape then two additional colors of ink, one each with the two remaining sizes of tape.

And here is how my tag turned out..

8.  I wanted to add a holiday touch to the ink strips so I stamped different colored 4-leaf clovers on the bottom of each strip of color.

9.  Finish off your calendar page with desired embellishments.

I am going to share this technique again at a later date.
There are so many cool designs and variations that you can achieve using this technique.

Hope you're having fun so far!

  3. Even though I am not Irish, I do believe that my Irish Eyes are Smiling! This technique would also be a great application addition to your art journal.
