Steampunk Gelatos!!

Did you know there is a new set of Gelatos out?
It's called Steampunk!!!

Faber-Castell Steampunk Gelatos

Of course I had to get a set...
I mean first it's Gelatos AND Steampunk.
(Yes, I do understand the power of branding.)

The new colors are Iced Coffee which is a metallic and looks like a deep rich bronze.  Next is Cinnamon, Black Cherry (purple), and Iced Chai - another metallic which looks like a warm gold.

Here is the Black Cherry among the other purple gelatos...
it's the 2nd color in (where the tube is).

This is the Iced Chai (2nd) and Iced Coffee (3rd) between the original Metallic Gold and Silver.

This photo is Iced Coffee, original Chocolate, Iced Chai, Butterscotch and Cinnamon....gosh they all sound so good together huh?  A little whip cream and it sounds like quite a beverage! LOL!!

I quite like the new metallics.
I can't wait to use them!

Postage Refund! Susana's Custom Art & Card Design

The other day I placed an order at Susana's Custom Art & Card Design.  The shipping was $7.75 which is about normal for most places anymore so I didn't think anything about it.  I just paid for my order and never gave it a second though.

Since I have an etsy shop I do lots of shipping and I have a pretty good idea about what it costs to mail various items.  I know that I've over paid for shipping many times on many orders at various places but you know that's sort of the trade off for ordering on line.  It would cost me more in gas to drive to the nearest store (over 3 hrs away) so I pay it.

Much to my surprise the very same evening I came back to read my e-mail and I had a notification that my package had shipped AND I had a refund of $2.75!!  I was totally amazed so much so I e-mailed Susana and thanked her.

This is the FIRST time anyone has ever refunded the excess AND she stuck in a little stamp and package of Queen & Co pearls to boot!  How cool is that?  Anyway, it's always nice to be able to pass on info about great customer service.

Beach Rules ATC's & Altoids Tin

As you know this month the Altered Pages Design Team is fortunate enough to be co-hosting a month full of fun with IMAGINE Crafts/Tsukineko combining the wonderful products of both companies into our creations.

For my final project of the month I wanted to share
a fun box full of ATC's which are in fact:

BEACH RULES!

To help hide the writing, I inked the tin with Mellow Mint Opaque StazOn ink to which I applied a layer of GlazOn. I then added Blue Hawaii, Midnight Blue and Spiced Chai StazOn Midi's to make the sand, surf and sky.

I mixed some brown micro beads with a bit of Vintage Creative Medium to add a texture element to imitate sand.  (I also used this mixture on one of the ATC's.).   The two photos show what it looked like before and after mixing.  I just smeared it on the tin (and ATC) with the craft knife and left it to dry.

Before I smeared on the micro bead sand though I added the fun group of friends at the beach image (which is from the collage sheet On The Beach) .  I thought they looked great rushing out of the water onto the sandy beach.

I added a bit of wadded glassine envelope to imitate the waves rolling in, a tiny starfish and the sentiment all using Vintage Creative Medium which adds a nice sepia tint.

When you flip the lid open you'll find the...Beach Rules ATC's!  Inside the cover of the tin is an image of a wooden arrow pointing the way to the swimming hole.  But this is also Beach Rule

#1 - Swim Often!

The is the "Beach Rule" ATC - sort of the cover to the book type of thing to tell you what's to come.

Beach Rules....

#2:  Bare Feet are Mandatory

Image - The Water's Fine; Cork; StazOn Midnight Blue, Spiced Chai.

#3: Breath the Salty Air

Tilted Vertigo Film inked with StazOn ink on the back.
Image and sentiment adhered using Clear Creative Medium.

#4:  Collect Seashells

Shells colored using Memento Dual Tip Markers,
Sponged LUXE Inks & StazOn Spiced Chai along the edges.

#5 You're Never Too Old to Frolic

Background created using a Monoprint Technique & LUXE Ink.

#6: Soak up the Sun

StazOn Midi's & GlazOn on Sheet Metal ATC,
Image & Sentiment adhered with Clear Creative Medium

#7: Ride the Waves

Rattlesnake Vertigo Film - Image applied to the back using Clear Creative Medium
then inked using StazOn Blue Hawaii Midi & Midnight Blue.
Sentiment glued to front of ATC.

#8: Build Sandcastles

Game Board ATC blank inked with Memento LUXE inks.
The "sand" was created by mixing Vintage Creative Medium with brown micro beads.

#9: Enjoy the Breeze

This ATC was created on a large piece of mica - the image and sentiment were both adhered to the back of the ATC using Clear Creative Medium then inked & stamped with StazOn Midi's ink.

#10: Use the Buddy System

Creative Medium image transfer onto paper.  The image was then mounted to a piece of canvas which was colored using Memento LUXE ink.   Below is a close up of the Image Transfer - this was made using an ink jet print. It is recommended that you use a toner based image but personally I like the distressed look of the ink jet image better.

#11: Listen to the Waves Roll In

This is a double image transfer using Creative Medium onto a piece of Taffeta Vertigo Film (on the back).  The image of the girl on the dock was the first transfer then I transferred inked washi tape for the second image transfer.  I rubbed a bit of the second transfer off of the girl image so it didn't detract from that image too much.

and finally Beach Rule
#12 Enjoy the Wild Life!

This image was adhered to a piece of handmade white paper using Vintage Creative Medium.  The paper it's self had been coated with a layer of the Vintage CM prior to the image being glued down for a bit of color.

And here they are all together....

I hope you've enjoyed this tin full of
Beach Rules!

2 Peas in a Bucket - Closing!!

I don't know if you've heard but
is closing!!!

It's really sad that so many of the long standing web-sites are disappearing.  First all of the stores in our area closed down and when I say our "area" I'm talking about a 2 hour drive one way.  So while it's not fun to see it in person first I shop for virtually everything on-line.  It's the only option for me being in a rural area with no dedicated stamp or scrap stores around.  I miss not being able to touch it or see it up close but hey you do what you gotta do.  Recently there have been several really big ~ and I would have thought successful web-stores closings, it's just really scary!  Hopefully we can support the stores that are left so they don't disappear as well.

Picnic Club Scrap Blog Hop & Give A Way!!

Welcome everyone to the
and
HAPPY SUMMER!!!

 photo 0614_bloghop_badge_zps6ee8a56b.jpg

This months kit was so bright and cheery -
just perfect for welcoming in summer and all the fun that goes along with it.

I was so tickled when I saw the huge slice of watermelon stamp that was included in the Picnic UM Collection.  It was the starting point for my whole idea for this months project.

Since everyone owns/prefers different brands of ink I thought I would share the colors I used when creating with this kit.  I used a combination of Archival and Distress Inks and they are as follows:

Archival Inks:  Leaf Green; French Ultramarine & Magenta Hue
Distress Inks: Mowed Lawn, Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean & Spun Sugar

and here's what I created....

I used the dark green cardstock to make a pocket - with a bit of the pink seed printed cardstock as it's sides to imitate a slice of watermelon.  The stamped slice of watermelon is actually the closure for the little pocket.  I added a dot of velcro hook & loop to hold the lid closed.

Once you open  up the flap a nifty little book pops out!
The book dimensions are 3.5" x 5.5" -
the watermelon pocket is of course a bit larger.

Here it is totally open.....
(pause for intermission...I had to pick up my goodies and race inside as it started to rain again!)

Back on dry land - here are the various inside pages.  The book pages are laid out in sections - a large one on the left, a small page in the center houses a card that will only pull out so far where you can add journaling, small photos or other info. and one large page on the right side.  As you can see from the photo above there are 5 of these sections for a total of 20 pages as well as 5 pull out cards.  Lots of real estate for such a small book.

As I mentioned the pull out card can be viewed from both sides..
more opportunities for decorating as well!

I made a hot dog from the hamburger stamp by first stamping the bottom bun twice.  I then stamped the hamburger patty on red cardstock with a brown ink creating a pretty good likeness.  I added a bit of Liquid Pearl "Mustard to top it off.  The glass of lemon aid was stamped twice on vellum...once in yellow, once in  blue.  I fussy cut the drink portion out and mounted it over the blue glass image.  The slice of lemon was stamped on plain old cardstock.

and the rest of the book....

And I didn't forget my Gnome friend...  He's gettin' ready to barbecue in his watermelon leisure suit!  Smartly outfitted in deep watermelon green pants and belt with a pink watermelon seed designer shirt topped off with a light green check hat!  I'm sure he'll win best dressed at all the picnics this summer.  LOL!!

It's time to skip on over to Deb's blog....

remember, if you get lost along the way as you hop

Have a wonderful day friends!
