Refresh Remix Clipboard Collage

Every so often Club Scrap will bring back an old kit with some new elements and this month the winner of the bracket contest made it's limited time debut....  Refresh Remix!  I absolutely love it because it's all green and blue and so very lush looking.

My goal earlier this year was to make a new clipboard collage each month to use as a welcome sign at my front door.  Well, I haven't had time to do so the last couple months so it's high time to get back at it.  

This is my Refresh Remix clipboard collage and I love it!  I used stamp images and sentiments from several older kits to finish it off as well as a key that has a "heart" hole at the top.   The charm that is hidden behind the ribbon (didn't realize that till after I took the pics) has a little fern cut out in it.

I know it's 4th of July but I'm going to hang this up right away...it's got some really neat inspiring quotes to brighten everyone's day.

Welcome Friends to the June 2017 Club Scrap Blog Hop - Pattern Play!  You may have arrived here by way of Julie's incredible blog...if not you'll want to check it out to see the lovely project she has created.  This month's kit, Pattern Play, is a real eye opener!  Such a bright fun kit...

I haven't made anything to share lately since I've been working on the wedding book for the past few months so I decided it was time.  

So I made a set of matching tri-fold cards!  Each card is different but the same if that makes any sense at all.  I used the same basic design but varied the pattern papers, sentiments and embellishments on each card to make them each unique in their own way.

Here are the various cards...I just love the "infinity" sentiment!

And to house the cards and envelopes I used a couple of the pretty designer paper bags as the container to hold them all!  I love the black/green opposite sides...just a fun play on the patterns.  I used a ribbon and buckle just as a fun little accent.

One Layer Creations

This month the Club Scrap Artist Team was challenged to make one layer creations! Today I made a layout that is totally one layer - well, except for the photos of course.  It was so much fun coming up with different ways to add texture and depth to the lo.

I started off by measuring the photos I wanted to use and marked out where I wanted them to be with pencil.  

Next came the barn, fence and windmill all stamped with onyx black ink.  I used black because I really wanted these images to pop to the foreground when the layout was finished.

I then tore a piece of scrap paper in half and used the jagged edge to create the grass/soil areas around the barn and windmill. The sky was then inked in.  I used more than one color for each to help create depth between the lights and dark inks.  Also, I don't know if you can see it or not but the cardstock has a pattern embedded into the paper which really pops where there is lots of ink - it shows up really well in the brown areas and a bit in the grass.  This adds a totally unexpected dimension that you wouldn't normally get with plain old cardstock.

An additional "layer" was added by stamping the text image with both light and dark brown inks.  I kept the darker ink along the bottom in the "dirt" areas to help ground the image and used the lighter color elsewhere.

Next step was to add the photos followed by stamping both the large and small wheat stalks to help frame the photos.

As the finishing touch I added splatters of metallic watercolor paint, which adds a nice shimmer IRL.

Upcycled Mirror...

A few weeks ago Mom and I went to the town wide garage sale. I am always on the look-out for items I can upcycle. This time I found this stained glass mirror (the center part is the mirror even though it looks black).   The center panels had an iridescent quality about them which looks colored in the photos - they were actually clear with the iridescents on the back of each piece of glass.

I needed a mirror for the spare room so I went with the current color scheme...

It's amazing how the sun casts such a lovely design over the entire room! You wouldn't think such a small piece would have such an impact but it really does.  I was going to hang it on the wall but I think I'm going to leave it in the window...it's just too pretty with the light streaming through it.

I Do

Today I have the final layout from the wedding album... I DO.  These are photos of the kids during the ceremony.....

This is more Club Scrap cardstock, stamps, cut-aparts and embellishments from the kit - Color Me Happy. I absolutely loved this kit! Of course blue is my favorite color and it matched the guys vests perfectly but that paired with the black and silver...it is just so classy looking.  

Since the prints and accent papers I used were so bright I printed the photos B&W to really make them pop. I didn't want any of the background to distract from Bob and Morgan.  I think it worked out well.

I just love how it turned out!

Gettin' Ready to Party...

Today I wanted to share another wedding layout. These photos are of us decorating the church Friday afternoon. Morgan, Bob, Maddie (Morgan's sister) and I cleaned, made decorations, set up all the chairs and tables before the rehearsal. We had lots of fun and I was so proud of how Bob chipped right in and did what he could.   He did volunteer to fill the candy dishes that were on each table...not sure if more went in the bowls or his mouth - LOL!!

The papers are all Club Scrap, I used MFT dies to cut the title.  I am so happy to say that I've had those rosettes for YEARS and I finally used them.  The colors matched the papers perfectly - I was so tickled - it's like I planned it ;)  LOL!!

We also set up the kitchen in the annex for the reception the next day.   It made it so nice to have everything laid out the night before - all we had to do Wedding day a.m. was put everything in it's proper roaster/crock pot and let it simmer. All of the buns, pops, salads and chips had their designated spots as well so when something arrived we didn't have to fuss. Made it all such a nice smooth event. I have to say I really enjoyed it, I love organizing so this was loads of fun for me.

Above to the bottom right you can see a photo of the card box/cake I made along with a "J" Johnson Canvas. I really enjoyed making both but that wedding cake card box got lots of nice comments. Everyone seemed to love it.

Card Sketch by Me!

It's my turn to come up with another fun card sketch over on the Club Scrap forum this month ~ 06/17 Card Sketch Challenge and I thought I'd share it with you as well!

Here is the sketch I came up with as well as a few examples...

These two cards were made using the Bouquet stamps from last years retreat.

And these cards were made using stamps from the Succulents Kit (02/17). 

The little cactus was colored using watercolor pencils.

As an added bonus I came up with a cut diagram that will allow you to complete (2) A2 size cards from two sheets of 8.5x11" cardstock.

This photo shows the cardstock pieces cut and ready to assemble.

Combo Challenge Card!

It's been a trying few days so this a.m. I decided I just wanted to play a bit.  I looked around some of the challenges out there at the moment and came up with a card which will work for 2.

I'm practicing "clean and simple"...it's very hard for me because I like layers and ink and lots of stuff. I think this fits the bill pretty well, what do you think?  CAS???  I used stamps from the newest Club Scrap kit - Pattern Play.

I was so tickled because I had ink that matched this weeks Just Add Ink Color Challenge perfectly!  It's Imagine's VersaMagic ink in Persimmon, Turquoise Gem and Aquatic Splash.

Feels like summer...

And today I wanted to share my idea of summer....

Looks like fun huh?  This is a shaker card I made using Vertigo film that was stamped with StazOn ink then colored with Memento Dual Tip Markers (you have to let them dry a long time).  It's set in a stamped/embossed seashell frame that was monoprint with a couple shades of Memento Ink. I also inked the card base with Tangelo Memento ink.   The shakers are a fun microbead, seed and bugle bead mix. It makes lots of fun noise when it's moved around.

CSI - Major Case File #231

 I'm excited to say that the Imagine crew was invited to be guest detectives at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration challenge blog!  Here is the case file I was assigned...

If you've never visited the blog before or worked on one of the Case Files, you are given bits and pieces to inspire your entire lay-out. The scene is the initial inspiration, with cues given in the Evidence portion.  You get a color scheme and sketch to help you along.  It's lots of fun, if you've never tried it before you should...I had a blast "following the clues".   Here's what I came up with...

My best 4 legged friend...Graber Barker - mild mannered dog by day, SUPER DOG by night!  He's not only my furry friend but he's also my 12" tall guard dog ;)  LOL!!  He doesn't let anyone get near me when he doesn't think they should be, including Eric!  Not even for a little peck on the cheek.  He's very protective of his mama.

A few close up's showing some of my Evidence....I tried to follow the sketch pretty carefully and I used stars, hearts, the white background, twine, speech bubbles and more.  I loved the medallions from the sketch so I made a couple to help pop up the main photo giving it a bit more prominence.

I used Lady Bug and Dandelion irRESISTible Texture Spray on the background for some fun splatter.  I also found some little turquoise, butter yellow, red and royal blue sequins to add some fun.  The stars are die-cut using a Seth Apter set of dies.

I found some great turquoise pattern paper with tiny stars on it but needed some yellow pattern paper....I didn't have any so I ended up making my own.  I stamped the stars on the yellow cardstock using VersaMark ink and embossed it with clear EP.  Just what I needed!
