September is National Sewing Month!!

And in honor of this nifty occasion the

September Get Inked Kit

is yes, you guessed it

Vintage Sewing!!

As I mentioned earlier today most of the images in this months kit are from pieces of vintage sewing ephemera I have in my personal collection! I especially love the vintage button card...it's one I got in a collection of buttons from my Grandma that was originally from my dad's Great Aunts who were successful seamstress in the early 1900's. They also used a sewing machine very similar to the one in this months kit! The vintage sewing needle package is one I found in a box of old sewing related items at a flea market. It's also got 3 fun sentiments as well so you can see why this months stamps are all very special to me in one way or another!

The kit isn't posted yet ~ it doesn't actually ship until 9-10-10 ~

but I hope if you're into sewing or know someone who is you'll let them know about this months kit and stop on over at Queen Kat Designs once it is up for grabs!

Here are a few projects I made using these stamps along with the kit contents

(Vintage Photo Distress Crackle Paint & Vintage Photo Distress Stickles).

Pins & Needles Tin

This is actually a nifty little metal tin that I decided would be perfect to store my specialty straight pins in...

I thought it very fitting to alter the outside using this months kit!

Now vintage sewing was one of the most suggested stamp ideas I receive repeatedly whenever I ask my Ink Stained friends their opinion.

Sooooooo

I thought it would be nice to give away a set of these stamps this month!!

  5. I have a notion you will receive sew many comments that will all contain a common thread, sew I won't needle you to have any bias toward me. I won't embellish my words or sing a song about a robin that goes "bob, bob, bobbin along..." I'll cut to the chase - "pick me," "pick me," "pick me." The tension is now so thick and I need to dart out of the room to baste the turkey in the oven. "PICK ME"

  18. Wow, Roni, I go back to school for 4 days, pop into your site, and you have been BUSY! I love the vintage sewing stuff. I have box of buttons that my husband's grandmother collected. She wasted nothing -- if the shirt was no good anymore, she salvaged the buttons, and in the box they went! So satisfying to look at them, isn't it?

  21. I love finding old sewing notions at rummage sales and thrift shops. I also loved using my grandmother's old sewing machine, a Singer that was converted from a treadle to electric. It ran so smoothly. Good, solid machine. Sweet projects, love the theme.

  23. Vintage sewing reminds me of going into my grandmother's sewing room and looking through her sewing box. The little trinkets in there fascinated me. How fun that the stamps and ephemera I find today are what I so enjoyed as a child. I would LOVE a chance to win this fab give-away!!
