I know this is going to sound off the wall but the holidays are coming and I usually try to bake a few different types of cookies for my guys. I have a few favorites that I always make ~ Coconut/Buttermilk combo; Wedding Cakes and Chocolate Chip of course but I like to try a different recipe as well.
So, tell me what your favorite holiday cookie is (and link to a recipe if possible).
You have until November 12th do post your favorite :)
Good Luck Peeps!
I just made a batch of cranberry pumpkin cookies. They were gone before the night was over! Definitely going on my list of cookies for this year. They are delicious!
ReplyDeleteHere is the recipe: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Cranberry-Pumpkin-Cookies/Detail.aspx
My all time favorite is Geo's oatmeal chocolate chip. His recipe is locked in a vault. I'd never be able to duplicate them. They are to die for!
I wanted to add one more cookie, just because, it's also a new one I tried about a month ago. I made double chocolate cookies with heath toffee bits. OMG!! They are insanely good! My mouth is watering just thinking about them. They are perfect hormonal pacifiers. LOL!! I have to make them again today and hide them from the kids!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite cookies are things with oatmeal and peanut butter. I do love peanut butter and marshmallow squares and I also love the No Bake Peanut Butter Oatmeal drops. Here's a link for it. http://coconutlime.blogspot.com/2008/02/no-bake-peanut-butter-oatmeal-cookies.html
ReplyDeleteMy favorites are the ones my Mom used to make when I was a kid. She made about 20 different (maybe more). She'd start in early December and then we'd package them up and "make the rounds" visiting all the Aunts and Uncles. Among the typees were about 5 different spritz (butter) cookies, gingerbread, M&M, oatmeal, almond crescent and my favorite the candy canes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win!
Oh definitely shortbread cookies...preferrably dipped in chocolate....mum used to mail me a batch from Canada..until 9/11 restrictions that prohibits shipping handmade foods to the US...I've tried to make them..just not the same....I'm a cooker not a baker....maybe I'll try again this year!!! thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteRanger Cookies for sure!!! These crunchy/chewy cookies are the best. I don't have a link, so I'll just post it here, they are pretty easy.

My favorite holiday cookie would be peanut butter chocolate & toffee chips cut into holiday shapes! :) Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteI am Russian on my dad's side of the family tree and we have a family tradition every year at Christmas. I make peppernuts - a peppermint sweet bread. It's a pain to make (it takes all day to roll and bake, in fact) and probably an acquired taste, but is a really important part of the holiday for me.
ReplyDeleteQuestion back to you and everyone here.... my dad died on August 10th and my mom will be in a skilled nursing / rehab facility until December 21st - just before Christmas. Should I make the peppernuts this year or do the holiday totally different than we've done in the past? I kinda want to make them for me... as an honor or tribute to my dad, but it may be too soon? What do you guys think?
Good luck with all of these yummy recipes. Oh - and if you do some extra baking and need any help taste testing the results, I'm your gal! That's what friends are for, so you can count on me (and my taste buds, which are already salivating....!)
Well darn! I see someone else beat me to my favorite cookie, Ranger Cookies (and how appropriate for your blog!!). My aunts used to make about 15 different cookies every year and give them away as gifts. My favorites were the Ranger Cookies, the Russian teacakes, and off course.....chocolate chip!
ReplyDeleteHey Phinny!
ReplyDeleteI say go ahead and make the Peppernuts this year! I feel like it would be a recognition that as some things change, some things still remain. The Peppernuts are a part of your family history and your own holiday memories. Unless it would make you sad to make them, I would go for it!
Chocolate chip cookies is always my favourite! Yummy...
ReplyDeleteHello there!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is a cranberry & orange cookie recipe I got out of a Gooseberry Patch Book... I'll have to find it for you! So tasty... I also make tons of cookies, and this one is my favorite for taste... My 2nd fave is gingerbread 'men' but cut into snowflake shapes.... my kids also like them when I actually make them into family members...
OH! My sister makes 'night before Christmas Mice'!!!! They are ADORABLE!!!!! They are a cookie recipe, shaped into a mice body, with red beady eyes (red hots), 1/2 peanuts for ears, and thin red licorice tails... she makes them perfectly so they really look like mice.. When I make them they flatten out and look like fat squished mice! And I swear I use her recipe!
Guess what! I bought my first grunge board this weekend!!! They holiday set! Can't wait to play!
Thanks Roni!!!
Phinny: Yes.. make the recipe.. traditions keep memories alive...my heart goes out to you..
There has to be toll house chocolate chip cookie bars at our house or the kids get cranky. Then we pour through recipe books and on-line and pick out a couple of new things to make together.
ReplyDeleteAny cookies that are chocolate are my favourite, but I also love ginger cookies too. xx
ReplyDeletemy favorite cookies are shortbread. A simple but delicious melt-in-your-mouth cookie. These contain 3 ingredients - sugar, flour and butter (real butter, no margarine).

ReplyDeleteI too make several kinds of cookies for the holidays - and I would have to say I love them all ...
ReplyDeleteOne of them that gets a lot of raves is a chocolate mint cookie - this recipee looks very similar to the one I make http://www.popularcookierecipes.com/ChocolateMint.html

My favorite cookies would have to be the Nestle Toll House cookies, recipe right on the back of the chocolate chip bag! Yum! Love them! And they just HAVE to have nuts in them!! Mmmmm!!
ReplyDeleteThe favourite cookie at our house (according to my 2 boys) would have to be Chocolate Chip Cookies -- the bigger the choco chips, the better.
ReplyDeleteRoni, I hope you post your recipe for coconut/buttermilk. They sound so good to me!! My favorite is a regular chocolate chip with walnuts. Kinda boring but oh so good!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Cholocate Coconut Squares. I make them only at Christmastime as a treat for me ;) Here's a link to the recipe.....http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1710,145189-226195,00.html
ReplyDeleteChristmas cookies??? Mmmmm, my hubby's mom's chocolate chip cookies. They are sooo rich and decadent!!! They have bits of apricots and nuts in them. More like a meal than a snack!!! Unfortunately, it is a well guarded family secret recipe. Only dear hubby can see it. That's OK with me, I'd rather eat them than make them anyway!!! Hope I win the mini's, even though I couldn't put up the recipe. Hisses, Rockin Robin Caldwell
ReplyDeleteI love these http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/cooking-live/white-chocolate-chunk-macadamia-nut-cookies-recipe/index.html
