First Snow of Winter 2015/2016

Well, the weathermen finally got it right.  We got our first snow of this winter Saturday!  At first they were calling for a couple inches, then we went to a winter storm watch with 4-6" possible then a bit before noon yesterday they said we were under a Winter Storm Warning with 4-7" possible, more in the northern areas (which we are).

And here's what we got...

This was about 3:30 - it continued snowing until about 8:30 or 9:00 last night so we got quite a bit more.

The big oak behind us looks so pretty when covered in snow.

You can't really tell from the photo but there were loads of birds hiding in the branches of that row of pine trees...I could hear them but couldn't see them.

Graber wasn't too thrilled about being out in it.
He's a jack russell/rat terrier mix so he doesn't have a whole lot of padding or fur.

Cecil on the other hand loved it!
He snow plows paths for the other 2 dogs.

No picture of Fidget (cairn terrier) - he went out then right back in...
Not interested in the snow at that point - can't say that I blame him.

I didn't go out at all - after falling & breaking my leg in late January I have no interest to be out in the snow/ice!  I normally love winter but after falling it just scares the heck out of me.  I don't know what I'm going to do as we'll have another 4-5 months of it - EEK!

Anyway, that's a gimps of our first snow of the year!

  1. We got the same snow! 7+ inches and it was heavy. I hope this isn't a sign of what this winter is going to be like.

  2. Roni, thank you so much for sharing your winter wonderland! Having the chance to enjoy the seasons, especially winter, has to be one of the things that I truly miss from my east coast childhood days. Right now in California, we are preparing for our El Nino event that will put an end to our 7+ years of drought! We are already seeing beginning signs and patterns of the El NiƱo with areas experiencing some rain every week and our local mountains having an early snowpack. Our water comes from our snowpack. Well Roni, my family may not have a white Thanksgiving, but we are going to have a wet and cold Thanksgiving. For a girl who longs for snow, rain is the next best thing!
Wishing Roni, her family, and her family of bloggers a happy and healthy Thanksgiving! If you do not celebrate Thanksgiving, may you have the chance to celebrate the joy of peace and love with your family!

  3. Be safe, I hope you don't have a repeat of last year. It is beautiful and a wonderful time to be indoors and crafting up a storm. I only lived in snow for 15 years but I won't miss it for awhile. Your dogs sound adorable. Hugs. ~ Renee

  4. The snow is so beautiful! We don't get a lot in north central Texas so it's always a special treat when we do. Usually if we get anything it's ice storms; they snarl up traffic for days. Especially the huge bridges all around the D/FW area; it can be pretty treacherous to drive. I used to venture out in it, but now I just stay home with the kids, binge watch on Netflix, and drink lots of homemade hot cocoa. :)

Hope you and your family have a safe and blessed Thanksgiving, Roni. :)
