Watercolor Paper Comparison Wrap Up & Give-A-Way!

I hope you've enjoyed the watercolor paper comparison.  I know paper as any medium you work with is a personal thing but I hope that the tests I've shared have helped you with your art.    I know there were some surprises for me as I played with the inks and other mediums on these papers.

If you missed out on any of the installments below are links to each one...

About WC papers & Papers I will be using.

To help wrap this comparison up I thought it would be fun to give away a sampler of various watercolor papers!  I won't be able to include all of the papers in the comparison (because I only had one sheet of a few) but I will make sure there are several to choose from including the Arches, Dick Blick, Canson, Ranger and a few others.

To be entered to win, tell me which paper you think you'd like to use/try or which test was your favorite or most helpful.  I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions!

You have until 8-29-14 to enter to win!

Oh, btw...there may be more than one set up for grabs ;)
Good Luck Everyone!!

  5. Thanks so much for posting these all on one page Roni! I have been sharing your links with other art friends! I know I have said it before- but thank you for taking the time for everyone!
and...I think the one I most want to try is Blick because it is affordable- and deliverable! heehee
As far as my favorite- not sure because I have really only used Canson and Strathmore to date...looking forward to new discoveries! ")

  6. I really learned a lot from all your hard work! I have used Arches cold pressed and Strathmore before, but I like the effects that you achieved with even some of the less expensive brands. Couldn't really say I have a favorite paper, but I was most interested to see how the Gelatos performed as I just ordered my first set.

  8. Thanks so much for doing this! I just reread all of your comparisons and tried to make a chart of your impressions. It's interesting that no single paper excelled in all categories. As a newbie to WC, I've mostly been using the Distress WC (Ranger) paper, but even with a 50% off coupon it's pretty pricey (although I love the bright white and it seems to work well). I'd love to try both of the Arches papers and the 90 and 140 lb. Dick Blicks. Strathmore 200 seemed to perform well except w/ pencils...I'm wondering if the 300 and 400 series would work better....

  11. Thanks for taking the time to do comparisons. I would love to try the Dick Blick. I am planning to buy the Strathmore with a coupon of course since it along with Canson is available locally. ;-) Was interesting to see how the different papers reacted with different mediums.

Thanks for the chance to win some papers to play with. Have a GREAT weekend!

  12. Thanks so much for all your work in bringing these WC paper comparisons to us, it was so helpful. I have used The Langton which is beautiful but too expensive to use too often, so I usually resort to using cheaper paper which isn't as nice. I have some Ranger WC on order but would love to try anything that happened to come my way. Thanks once again.

  13. I'd like to try Ranger because I like the ways works. Dick Blick seems comparable in quality, but less expensive.

  14. I was thrilled to read your comparisons. I was most impressed with your "prices by the inch." It put everything in perspective. I have Canson watercolor paper, but was not terribly impressed with it. I was really impressed with the H2Os, because I have some of those. Don't own any of the other mediums, though. I was gifted with one sheet of Strathmore and it was beautiful to work with. Thanks for all your hard work.

  17. I have one small piece of Strathmore cold press and it's wonderful so, of course, it's my fave BUT sooo expensive. I'd love to try something less costly. Thanks!
