Monogram Cards & Card Holder

Since this coming weekend is Mother's Day I thought it would be nice to talk about some gift ideas for all the mom's in our lives...yours, someone else's mom, an aunt, grandma or even yourself...cause we all know sometimes we have to pamper ourselves ;)

I know alot of Mom's out there are sort of hard to buy for...

sooooo ~

I thought let's do something personal...

Monogram Cards

while we're at it ~

a nice card holder to keep them in!

When you start off, decide what color scheme you're going to be working with...keep it down to 3-5 colors. I decided to use some coordinating papers from My Minds Eye as a starting point. I added cardstock, Distress Inks and Distress Stickles. The DS didn't dry at photo time so I couldn't finish embellishing but you'll get the general idea.

Easy-To-Make Card Holder

Finished size - 8" x 5 1/2" x 1/2"

Holds cards up to 5" x 7"

Supplies:

1 sheet 12x12 Cardstock

Bone Folder

Scissors

Trimmer or Straight Edge

Instructions:

1. Determine which side is going to be the top and draw an arrow in pencil showing you which side is up.

2. You will need to make 4 score marks across the entire sheet of cardstock. Score at 4", 4 1/2", 10" & 10 1/2".

3. Turn your cardstock so you are scoring along what would be the sides. Score a line at 1 1/2" & 2" on both outside edges.

4. You will now trim the 4 outside corners as shown in the photo -

You will end up with a 2" x 2" square cut from the top corners and a 2" x 5" rectangle cut from the bottom corners.

5. Fold along crease marks.

6. Add desired embellishments, pattern paper or stamped images as desired.

7. Fold the 2 side flaps in and adhere to front panel.

8. Tie the top flap closed with a coordinating ribbon...

Now, you can fill your holder with monogram cards...they could be all one design or you could get adventurous and use several different designs as I did here.

So there you go...this project can take as little as 30 minutes or up to 2-3 hours depending on how complex you want to make your cards and holder.

I think this is something that anyone will get lots of use out of.
