A Peaceful Bit of Spring

Here in the middle of the country we are waiting not so patiently on Spring.  It's still rainy and cold and in some places still snowing. I decided to make my own using stamps from Rubber Stamp Tapestry and Zig Clean Color Real Brush watercolor markers on Bristol Paper.

Let me begin by saying that Bristol Paper (or something similar) is a must...I've tried these markers on regular cardstock (of all brands) with no luck as far as the watercolor look goes. The inks just sink in and dries almost immediately without any chance to wet it and move it around like you can on the Bristol paper. Avoid the frustrations and just start out with the Bristol ;)

I used the tree stump from the Woodland Harvest set which I stamped using VersaFine Clair Pinecone ink. I then began stamping various bits of foliage and flowers by applying the color directly to the stamps from the Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers.

After I had a nice group of flowers I used a waterbrush to wet and move the ink around creating the watercolor effect. From here you can get creative. I went back and stamped more bits of foliage, more flowers and even a few bees. More watercoloring to create the ground and sky.  I then decided I needed something more so I stamped the large tree from the Budding Spring set with Acorn VersaFine Clair ink. I went ahead and stamped lots of leaves using a few different shades of green.

I stamped the sentiment from the Because of You set with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink. Mounted it on a blue card base and called it good.
