The first ATC is made using metal foil but you could use whatever thin metal you have on hand. It should all work pretty much the same.
Faux Patina Embossed Metal ATC
First, I embossed the metal ~
Then I painted the entire piece with copper acrylic paint.
After that was dry I used my finger to apply a bit of light and dark green acrylic paints (pool & bottle) in various areas.
I let it dry for about 20 seconds or so then I smudged the semi-dry paint to give it a more realistic, natural look.
I mounted it on my ATC blank....check out the backing paper...you know I couldn't throw it away!
Then I finished it off with my sentiment and another nifty collage image from Altered Pages.
Wax Paper Resist ATC
My second ATC for today uses one of my favorite techniques...wax paper resist. I just love how fun this technique is. You never know what you're going to end up with because the wax that transfers is invisible until you add ink!
To begin, crumble a sheet of wax paper about 3-4" larger than your paper to be used. This allows for the wax paper to be really crumbled but still large enough to cover the cardstock.
Next open the wax paper up and place it between two sheets of cardstock ~ regular or glossy depending on your prefernece.
Iron the sandwich of papers. This only takes a few seconds ~ you're just looking to heat up the wax paper a bit in order to transfer some of the wax to the cardstock.
Remove the wax paper and add ink! If you'll notice I'm using some of the new Spring Distress Ink! Beautiful arean't they? I think I like this "season" better than the other two. I'll share more about them next week.
Glue your creation to the ATC blank and finish it off as desired!
So there you go...
Now it's your turn to go and get your fingers a bit inky!!

ReplyDeleteOh, I just love that Faux Patina technique...love the copper on its own, but when you add the paint to make it look weathered...wow! I have also used the wax paper resist technique but for some reason, I don't get a good texture like you do. I think the waxed paper I have may not have enough wax on it?
