The paper in this kit contains vintage party images and elements related to parties:
~ The first giant sheet of paper has a collage of game board covers on the front and the back is made up of 6 12x12 squares of monochromatic polka dot patterns. The square colors are red, blue, yellow, green, orange and pink.
~ The second sheet of paper has 2 designs (3 of each design) which would work perfectly as 12x12 lay-outs or could be cut apart to use the individual elements. The elements include alphabet tiles, banners, word boxes, border strips, etc. The back of the second sheet is a mix of colored polka dots on a white field.
~ Specialty Papers... Red Paper Foil and Yellow Crepe Paper.
~ Cardstock Die-Cut Shapes (12x12)
You will notice that I also incorporated a bit of the Tinted Tapes here and there...I will point it out where it was used.
"Remember to Play" Card
This first card was so much fun...I knew I wanted to use these cute little cardstock tags on a card together. They were just too much fun and it is a nice little reminder for everyone to remember to take a little bit of time and play once in a while. I used the blue monochromatic polka dots for the bottom (though they don't show up due to my flash) and the multi polka dot paper for the top. I cut a strip of the foil to use as a bit of paper ribbon and the tags and diamonds are from the chipboard sheet of die-cuts.
I inked the edges of the card, tags and diamonds with Stormy Sky Distress Inks & the IBT and used some letter stickers (flat & dimensional) that I've had for years.
"Happy Birthday 2 U" Card
This card was so much fun! I loved the puppy which is on the collage sheet of paper. I trimmed the game boards and other elements around the puppy and spinner and paired it again with the blue polka dot pattern paper. The blue paper was covered with strips of the Numbers Tinted Tape...of course it would have been very easy if I had done that to start with but I didn't think of it until I already had the darn dog glued down! Sooo, I ended up cutting the tape very carefully with my Exacto knife to fit around the dog and spinner.
I cut the red foil into strips; pressed & looped it onto a line of adhesive to create the fun ruffled effect along the side. It didn't look quite finished so I added the bow at the top.
I then cut around the puppies hand so it could hold the cardstock tag from the kit; covered a chipboard 2 with foil and used more of the Numbers Tinted Tape to cover a chipboard U. The three little circle accents were also from the sheet of cardstock die-cuts.
finally...
"Fun" Door Hanger
I had so much fun with this project! The base is a wood door hanger that I bought years ago on clearance at Michaels for something like $ 0.15 (gotta love a bargain!!). I painted the edges and back with black acrylic paint. Then I covered the front of the hanger with the game boards and other goodies I had cut from the collage mix that I got the puppy/spinner image from in the last card.
I created a mini collage on a base I cut from the red foil with a Spellbinders label die-cut (no clue what number). The foil label was then embossed using a Sizzix embossing folder and mounted on black cardstock. I used various elements from both the collage printed paper and the cardstock die-cuts sheet to create the mini collage.
Finally I created the bow. I cut the yellow crepe paper into strips; adhered the Soot Tinted Tape down the center of each strip of crepe paper then made several loops which I stacked and added the extra tails.
So there you go...
your first look at the Party Games paper kit and a bit of Tinted Tape from Vintage Street Market!
What do you think?
Pretty fun stuff huh?
Well you know how much I love to share things, today is no different!
I'm going to share a roll of the
Numbers Tinted Tape
AND
the "Fun" Door Hanger
with one lucky reader.
To enter the drawing all you have to do is tell me what your favorite game(s) was when you were a kid!
This should be interesting since some games span the ages (monopoly, scrabble, life, etc) and other games are associated with various decades (the dating game, pong, pac-man, etc.).
I can't wait to read all about YOUR favorite game(s).
You have until 4-21-11 to post your comment.
My favorite game?
Well, when I was little I loved to play Checkers and Connect 4 ~ both of which are still around.
When I got older it was Monopoly (hmmm, maybe that's why I like gameboard stuff so much!)
And in the 80's when we got our first Atari it was Pac-Man and Pit Fall...
Yes, I know ~ I'm dating myself terribly with those confessions - LOL!!
When I was a kid I remember playing Chinese Checkers and Parchessi. The card games War and Crazy Eights were other favorites.
ReplyDeleteThanks Donna Lithgow
When I was a little girl, I used to love dressing up dolls. I'm not sure of the proper name for them. They were cut out pictures of ladies, with clothes with tabs on that you folded on to change her outfit. I would sit for hours tracing the ones provided and making my own clothes. I guess I haven't changed much, as I am still colouring pictures of ladies to make cards, lol.

Hmmm...if you are dating yourself, then the rest of us may be in trouble! As a kid "Sorry" was our big game. How fun!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was young I loved to play Monopoly, although I don't know that we ever completed a game. I remember learning to play chess but again didn't have the concentration to ever be very good. Later, much later, it was Tetris. I can still so those little blocks falling from the sky when I close my eyes. I think I played a few too many games when I was in my 20's.
ReplyDeleteYes, I know that probably dated me also.
I wasn't a big game person.. liked to play with my dolls. But I did like the Mattel Mystic foretell game... and Mystery date and wehn i was older, we played Uno a lot.
ReplyDeleteGreat projects by the way!!
I forgot Kerplunk... loved the game, hated to gather up and reload all of those marbles! Same for mousetrap... set up was a pain.
ReplyDeleteKerplunk was a not allowed in our house, we had it but for some reason it caused loads of arguments. Lovely card! Lego was my favourite toy, the game of life was our favourite game.
ReplyDeleteI remember I had a Cinderella paper doll set. I loved the ball gowns. My brothers and I played alot of go fish and checkers.
ReplyDeleteI always loved playing Scrabble. Then Boggle later on. Still love word-y things like crossword puzzles.
ReplyDeleteMy favorites were outdoor games; red rover, red light/green light, and kill the man with the ball. My neighbor had a whole room underneath their basement stairs that was filled floor to ceiling with boardgames. We spent lots of days outside at the picnic table playing Careers and Sorry, which even had a dinner bell to ring when screaming sorry at the top of your lungs.
ReplyDeleteFavorite game had to be Chutes and Ladders, loved the ladders, hated to slide down the chutes, espeially that long one that spanned the whole board!
ReplyDeleteAwesome projects! My favorite game as a child was kick the can, you thought you were dating yourself. I'm even older! Thanks for the chance to win. Shari (cricutrookie)
ReplyDeleteI love to play rummy with my mom. I remember the fun times we had when I was growing up.
ReplyDeleteFavorite childhood games: jacks; Chinese checkers; checkers. Pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey always made an appearance at birthday parties. I even found a photo at an auction this week of a family of 14 children celebrating a birthday and the donkey was tacked to the outside wall of their house! Anne, yourmainestamper
ReplyDeleteThis is the first I've seen of the Vintage Street Market line, and I love it!!

ReplyDeleteI loved the game of Sorry! It's a lot like Parchessi, but I loved "sliding" my brothers and sisters back to their home. Thanks for the chance to enter for your give-a-way!
ReplyDeleteWell, I know I'm older than you are Roni, but I won't hold that against you! :)
ReplyDeleteAs one of 6 children growing up in Minnesota (winters lasted a LONG TIME back then too) we played lots of board games and cards! One of my faves was Sorry and Hearts! All of the new techy/electronic games came after my children were teenagers!!
A game I had which I wish I still did own (my mother doesn't believe in keeping ANYTHING) was a board game based on the Beatles cartoon. I remember it was based on the plot from Help!, so the little cardboard Beatles worked their way around the board, avoiding silly obstacles.
ReplyDeleteOkay - if being old is a contest then I win!!!! Mr. Potato Head was played on real potatoes when I was young (7). Loved Kooties, and of course jacks. Old Maid was THE card game within my small circle of friends. Thanks for the chance to win.

I used to play monopoly as a child. Since I was an only child, I got to play with my grandparents. It was always so much fun.
ReplyDeleteWe played Monopoly sometimes as kids, but the big game we played all the time was cribbage. Was wonderful for my mental arthimetic. Lots of fun time playing with Mum and Dad.
ReplyDeleteStill have the old Monopoly game but it has been replaced by the Star Wars version and the old game has become some of my artwork.
Mine was tether ball!

I have several games I liked over the years. Candy Land, Monopoly any all the time even now. Then Mom taught me Canasta. The TRIVIAL PURSUIT. yM all time favorite!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a video game girl but I did like Pac-Man & Tetris.
I liked to play monopoly, candyland (board games), also had fun playing with Barbie, she had lots of clothes and shoes.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite game was sorry or old maid.
ReplyDeleteI loved those family times when playing games we really looked forward to. I am not sure many people would know or remember this game but it was called Feely Meely, you had a card with an item on it and you placed you hands in this box (which had of course openings for each player all around the box, you had to feel around for the object to match what was on your card. We also played Twister and the usual easy card games. Oh boy that brings back a lot of memories. When I got older I had a game called Operation, that was very exciting. LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win Roni. You are so wonderful teaching and giving. Bless you.
Lesley :)
