Sea Glass Charm & Necklace

Hey Hey Hey....it's Thursday!

Man it's been wild...we have 10 days left in our old building and the tenants still aren't out of our new building!!! Talk about stress...you could cut it with a knife here!

Anyway, I did manage to finish up the Sea Glass Charm Necklace tonite ~ WHEW!

As you recall yesterday I drilled holes in the sea glass and had connected the two pieces with a bit of copper wire.

Well today I added a cool Tissue retro mini collage image from Southern Blackberry Designs using their Trans Maxx medium that's great for Image Transfers but works as a decoupage glue too since it dries crystal clear. It also protects as well as adding a nice shine to the finished product.

You know me and my high tech tools...I just used my finger to apply the Trans Maxx ;)

And here is how it looks after it dries...pretty cool huh?

Now, you could just add a chain and call it good enough BUT I really like to mix it up a bit. I think it's awesome to mix up metals, textures, sizes for a fun and funky look.

The first thing I do when assembling one of these mixed up necklaces is to pull out several bits and arrange them in the order I think I want to assemble them.... You can see I've got some leather strips, wire, bits of various types of chain, a neat hand charm I found at JoAnn's as well as a few assorted jump rings.

To use the leather strips I thread it through a jump ring (or 3 in this case) and a larger solid ring. Over lap the leather at least 1/4" - 1/2". Wrap desired color (and size) of wire around the over lapping section until you can't see the leather anymore. Be sure to keep the wire pretty snug as you're wrapping ~ this will be what holds this section of your necklace together!

Continue adding bits of chain, jump rings and charms as desired....

After you've finished creating your very unique mixed up chain, add desired closure. And here it is all finished up....
