Distressed Glass Tile Charms Pt II

Back with Part II of the Distressed Glass Tile Charms!
If you recall yesterday I explained how to remove the color and plastic web residue with a rotary tool in Distressed Glass Tile Charms Part I.
Now we're going to finish the charm off...

Instructions:
1. You'll notice that the rotary tool gave the glass tile a frosted look. To restore the crystal clear look it is very important to use a sufficient amount of Glossy Accents (or other clear resin). Squirt a good amount of GA on the back of the tile (where you removed the color) and spread it around so there is a pretty thick layer over the entire back right out to the edges. You will need enough GA to fill in all of the tiny grooves created by the diamond bit and secure your photo to the tile. In this case more is better. You will be able to clean any excess away after the tile is finished.

2. Place the tile GA side down over your vintage image. I am using an image from Vintage Image Craft!! Slide it around until the image is centered as desired. DO NOT push down too hard once it has been centered. You may push too much of the GA out from between the tile and image creating air holes and pockets which will distort the finished charm. The tile will settle on it's own. You can see where a bit of the GA has seaped out under the edges.

3. Once the image has dried completely, trim away the excess paper.
4. Sand any rough edges of the trimmed paper for a nice smooth finish.
5. (optional) This step is totally up to you but I think it is what makes these charms even better than most of the charms for sale on etsy or elsewhere.... Add a cool bit of pattern paper, ephemera or other paper to the back of the charm. I like to use vintage sheet music, dictionary pages or foriegn text. A thin layer of GA is perfectly fine for this step.

6. After the backing layer has dried, trim and sand the edges.
7. Again, this step is optional ~ I like to ink around the edges of the back with Distress Ink and my Ink Blending Tool. Just adds a nice finished look to the charm.
8. Apply a final layer of Glossy Accents to seal the back of the charm. Let dry completely.

9. After the GA has dried, affix desired jewelry finding with a strong jewelry glue.

ENJOY!!
