New Born Calf Pics!

Well, we had a bit of excitement on our farm...first calf of the season :)

A little girl ~ and I do mean little!
She's pretty small but as you can see, she's up and around ~ doin' just fine!
Her mom's name is Maggie ~ we haven't decided on a name yet but since it's been snowing I think Snowball or Snowflake but dh isn't so keen on those names.
Any suggestions????

I also baked 4 different types of cookies today ~ chocolate lovers (loaded with different types of chocolate), chocolate chip/pecan, mexican wedding cakes and candy canes - mmmm!!!

Needless to say I didn't get any ornaments made today but I'll share a couple tomorrow before our family festivities begin.

Do you all do something special for Christmas Eve?

We used to get together with dh's extended family but most of the family has passed or moved away so for the past several years we do our own immediate family celebration. We have finger foods and watch movies with the boys. It's great and a rare occasion when we spend time together. It's nice to be able to just stay home and relax :)

I hope you and your family are able to spend some time together to just enjoy each other.

Take care, stay safe and warm!

  1. She's adorable, Roni! Given that it's so close to Christmas, maybe you could call her Holly or Star. Have a Merry Christmas! I'm looking forward to everything you have in store for us in the New Year!

  2. Roni -

She is just so sweet and so fuzzy looking! What an adorable baby. I agree with Kim, I think Holly would be nice.
Thank you for all your hard work on your blog this year. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

  3. I'm partial to the name Gloria (being the name of my oldest childe), but Noel is a lovely name for the season, too. Beautiful animal!

  4. You have a FARM? Too cool! I think you should call her Gingerbread or Eggnog or something fun like that. I'm partial to Snowflake too. We're celebrating Christmas with our boys too...we have four, all over 20 now. Merry Christmas Roni! Best of the holidays to you and yours! =D

  8. Thank you for sharing such adorable pics. I agree she is absolutely beautiful. As hubby does not agree with those names you chose, and as her mother's name is Maggie, what about sticking to more ordinary names and choosing something like Carol or Noel?
It will be interesting to see what DH agrees to in the end - do let us know.

  11. Aren't new farm animals just the cutest? I haven't named a calf since I was a kid and dad butchered my calf you just don't let yourself get attached to lunch.
Roni I hope you have a safe and happy holiday. I can see on the weather station that you are in for a major storm. I think we will be getting rain here in Ohio.
