Now, I know you're not going to believe this but everything on the puzzle is made from the sticky back canvas!!! EVERYTHING ~ photo, background, flowers, cupcake ~ everything!
It was all made using an image transfer technique.
Supplies:
Sticky Back Canvas
Glossy Multi Medium
Foam Brush
Pattern Paper
Instructions:
1. Apply the Multi-Medium to the pattern side of the pattern paper. Make sure you cover the entire surface.
2. Place the pattern paper face down on the canvas. I like to take a rag and rub the entire back of the paper just to make sure there is good contact.
3. LET DRY COMPLETELY ~ I know it's odd that this is a step but trust me, if you try to proceed w/o letting the Multi-Medium dry completely it will not work ~ it will be a slimy mess!
4. Mist the pattern paper with water.
5. Rub away the paper backing ~ rewet as necessary. Continue rubbing until all of the white paper has been removed.
6. After all the paper has been removed I add a coat of the Multi Medium over the entire piece of canvas. It helps take care of any remaining "fuzzy" look as well as give it a great glossy finish.
The image can be transferred in the same fashion! I used an ink-jet copy but you could also use a laser image as well.
The canvas can now be applied to the puzzle piece or other project! It can be stamped, die-cut, torn, you can add pen-work, stickles, brads, eyelets, etc.
It's Just Great!!
Of course I did use Worn Lipstick Distress Ink & the Ink Blending Tool as well as Distress Stickles. Mmmmmm....isn't it delish!

Sticky back canvas, a blending tool, I think there are some Stickles in there somewhere, possible some Rock Candy crackle paint? I'm thinking a transfer technique was used on the photo. Very cool!

ReplyDeleteRoni great technique, as always! I've done lots of image transfers to polymer clay in a similar way but for some reason never thought to try patterned paper. Wonder if it will work on clay? Will have to try it!
