Perfectly Pearled Glass Ornaments

Ho Ho Ho...Merry Christmas ;)

Just trying to get you in the mood - LOL!!

Since it's so stinkin hot I thought it would be nice to think of a cooler time of year and celebrate Christmas in July!

Each day I'll be sharing a different

Christmas/Winter Holiday

themed project

and

giving away goodies!!!

Today's project is one I just love for a few reasons...1) it's very easy, 2) you never know quite how it's going to turn out so it's a surprise every time and 3) the results are stunning!

Perfectly Pearled Glass Ornaments

(You can substitute the plastic ornaments but it won't look quite as nice since the plastic isn't well, glass.)

Supplies:
Perfect Pearls Pigment Powders (2-3 colors) - Ranger Industries
Perfect Fabric Medium - Ranger Industries
Clear Glass Ornaments - Crafts Etc.
Mini Mister (filled with water) - Ranger Industries
Adirondack Acrylic Dabber Paint - Gold - Ranger Industries
Inkssentials Glossy Accents
Extras: Stickles Glitter Glue - Ranger Industries, Maribu Boa - Crafts Etc., Micro Beads, Faux Gemstones, Flowers, Beads, etc.
Instructions:
1. Remove metal cap from glass ornament and set aside.
2. Squeeze in 4-5 drops of Perfect Fabric Medium into the ornament.
3. Squirt water into the ornament (2-3 squirts). Gently shake the ornament to mix the Perfect Fabric Medium & water. Add 1-2 more squirts of water if needed.
4. Coat the entire inside of the ornament by tilting & rolling ball in all directions. Place ball upside down (opening facing down) in the tray to drain. (Note - if ornaments didn’t come in a plastic tray use a paper cup for this step.) Let dry until tacky.
5. Add desired color of Perfect Pearls Pigment Powder to the ornament using small brush or popsicle stick. Gently shake the powder around the inside. Add additional colors of Perfect Pearls if desired. I normally like to stick with no more than 3 colors but you can add as many as you like.
6. Dilute Gold Adirondack Acrylic Dabber Paint (Black, Silver, Pearl, Copper dabbers also work well) with water (approx half & half). Pour into the ornament and coat the entire inside. Place back in the tray (or cup) to drain.
7. After most of the paint has drained out check to see if there are any exposed areas of glass. Add additional Perfect Pearls Pigment Powder if necessary.
8. Replace metal cap.
Now, most people stop there...which of course is perfectly fine and you'd have a wonderful ornament. But, I like to think of it as a cake just waiting for the icing or in this case a Christmas Cookie waiting to be decorated ;) LOL!!!

Below are just a few decorating ideas on how to finish off your ornament.....

Fluff & Sparkle

PP ornament 5

PP ornament 6

*Add lines of Stickles Glitter Glue starting at the bottom center working towards the hanger. Let dry.
*Attach maribu boa around the top of the ornament using Glossy Accents. Let dry.
*Add ribbon hanger if desired.

Micro Bead Ice Cycles

PP ornament 3

PP ornament 4

*Drizzle a VERY thick layer of Glossy Accents around the upper portion of the ornament starting at the cap working outward.

*Let the Glossy Accents drip down the sides of the ornament just like ice cycles hanging from a roof top. Add additional GA as necessary.

*Once you are satisfied with the way the GA looks, generously sprinkle micro beads in desired color over the GA. Let dry completely.

*Attach ribbon hanger if desired.

Happy Hanukkah

Who says ornaments are just for Christmas Trees??? Check out this nifty ornament adorned with the Star of David!

PP ornament 1

PP ornament 2

*Using a magic marker, create a dot pattern in desired shape. (this is to help with gemstone placement)

*Work in small sections, apply a dot of glue to each marker dot. Affix a gemstone to each dot.

*Continue until your entire pattern has been covered with gemstones. Let dry completely.

*Affix ribbon hanger if desired.

So there you have it...a fun and easy project with results good enough to give as a gift but I guarantee you'll be hard pressed to give them up ;) LOL!!

Now, for the give-a-way...

post in this thread and you'll be entered to win a fun

Christmas/Winter themed goodie!

You have until tomorrow when I post the next project at which time I'll draw the winners name!!

Good Luck Everyone!
