Bottlecap Necklace & More!

Here is a neat project that takes only a minimal amount of supplies, UTEE and a melt pot. By simply adding layers of UTEE & collage images you can build a great mini collage that can be used for various items....everything from a necklace, bracelet, magnet, scrapbook or card embellishment. The possibilities are endless!

UTEE Bottlecap Necklace

Supplies:

Tim Holtz Distressable Do-Dad Sheets (various - depending on desired images)
UTEE - Clear - Ranger
Adirondack Alcohol Ink - Ranger
Melt Pot - Ranger
Beadazzle Beads - Ranger
Tim Holtz Ball Chain
Bottle caps - Regular & Maya Road Giant Bottle Caps
Jump Ring
Crop-A-Dile

Instructions:

1. Cut out desired collage images and get some idea of how you want them layered in your collage.

2. Punch 1 or 2 holes as needed into the bottle cap sides if you are planning on using finished bottle cap in a hanging fashion.

3. Apply Alcohol Inks to all sides of both bottle caps.

4. Pour a good amount of UTEE into Melt Pot. Cover with lid and turn on to UTEE setting. Let Melt.

5. Place background collage image into the bottom of the bottle cap.

6. Gently pour a small amount of UTEE over the base collage image. NOTE -You want just enough to cover the image. Let cool.

7. Place additional image over first layer of UTEE.

8. Pour another layer of UTEE over 2nd set of collage images.

9. Continue adding alternating layers of collage images/UTEE until you have added final image.

Here you can see the layers between the collage images & UTEE....

Remember - Top layer should be a nice coat of UTEE.

Let cool.

Add jump ring, magnet, etc as desired.

10. To finish off my bottle caps I added a small amount of Glossy Accents around the edges & sprinkled on Beadazzle Beads.

Here is a magnet made in the same fashion....

It does take a bit of time to make these little gems but it is well worth it!

It's also another great excuse to dig out that melt pot that's been sitting un-loved in the corner!

So, what are you waiting for? Get that pot out and start melting!!

Tomorrow I'll have another 4 for 1 project showing 4 different ways to use one stamp as well as a preview of next weeks Ink Stained Sketch.

Hope to see you then!!
