NCD - Stampin' with Mom!

I hope you're all having a great National Card Making Day!

Mom and I have been stampin' up a storm...  She belongs to a euchre club and always tries to come up with different and unique things to do for the ladies.  Well, she thought it would be fun to make sets of tally cards to give away the next time she hosts her club.

That's 11 sets of 12!!!

Since I knew I wanted to "play" today I invited her over so we could work on them.... Don't let the chaos fool you... LOL!!!

She had her cards printed and ready to go.  We kept them simple since there were so many and we got them all done!

Woo Hoo :)

National Card Day - Ink Stained Card Sketch #1

Here is the first card sketch I have for you today....

You'll have to forgive the ink smudge on it...I just finished stamping up a storm with mom (more on that later..)

The background could be stamped, pattern paper, cardstock or a blend.

NCD Ink Stained Sketches 001

Say it in a Card...

Did you realize Ink Stains has
HUNDREDS
for all sorts of occasions?

It's true and I add more and more all the time.  I have collected quotes, sayings and all sorts of sentiments for years from all over the place.  You never know when or where you might find a new saying so I always keep my eyes open for new ones.  Even though a list for a particular theme may have been posted a year or so ago doesn't mean that's all I have.  I constantly add new sentiments to the original lists as I find them.

So as you're making your cards today feel free to use any of the sentiments found on Ink Stains to finish off your special hand made creations!

What Size Cards Do You Make? (& Card Give-A-Way!!)

As I was getting my cards around for the sale I had a few weeks ago I realized I like BIG cards... so much so I had to find some pretty big envelopes to fit them.  Some I had to create my own envelopes because they were so honkin' big!!

That got me to thinkin' about what size cards other crafters make and why.

To be honest ~ I normally don't start out with a card size in mind...I just start stamping and layering cardstock, pattern paper and goodies.  When I am finished piling it on then I usually add it to a cardstock base and call it done.  For the most part my cards range from 5x7 and up.

I must say I was quite surprised by the poll numbers...

Turns out most people make their cards 4.25" x 5.5" as you can see below ~ 70%!!!

A2 - 4.25" x 5.5" 68 (70%)

A6 - 4.6" x 6.25" 12 (12%)

A7 - 5" x 7" 13 (13%)

A8 - 5.5" x 8.25 2 (2%)

A10 - 5.75" x 9.25" 4 (4%)

Square - 5" x 5" 7 (7%)

Square - 6" x 6" 8 (8%)

other 10 (10%)

You have until 10-5-10 to respond to be entered!

Stampin Up Stamp Info

Several people have asked about what stamp set this image was from....

criss cross card 008

We've been makin' hay the last couple days and we were out of town today but I finally have the info.  It's a Stampin' Up set of course and it is called, "Gifts of the Earth".  I don't know how old it is or the actual set number because I bought it at a garage sale and the name was the only thing on the box.

I did check e-bay and it looks like there are 3 sets for sale at this time...
I don't know anything about the auctions or the sellers so I can't speak on that part but I do know the older the sets get the more $'s they bring.
After looking at these auctions I guess I got a really good deal...my set was $10.00!

If anyone would like me to stamp some of these images, jlmk the color and type of ink and paper color.  I'd be happy to share them with you!

Just For Fun Friday...Hocus Pocus!

YES!

Happy Friday!!!

Of course today is Just For Fun Friday and the JFF Girls are challenged this week by a crystal ball, a couple of witches....one very spooky and one not so much!

Here are my cards....ENJOY!!

 JFF - 10-1 - Ink Stained Roni 005

Told you she wasn't spooky!  ;)

JFF - 10-1 - Ink Stained Roni 003

And my favorite ~

JFF - 10-1 - Ink Stained Roni 001

To create the crystal ball initially I stamped the crystal ball on white cardstock then stamped a second crystal ball on scrap paper.    I carefully cut away the crystal ball that I stamped on the scrap paper and used negative (the paper that was around the original image) as a mask.  This mask was placed over my "good" image.  I then stamped the witch in the glass ball section.   I added Distress Inks using the Ink Blending Tool then covered the "glass ball" with Glossy Accents.  After it was dry I water colored the base, added lots of Stickles Glitter Glue and trimmed the image from the paper.  It was then mounted on my card base using double stick foam.

Here is a close up showing the "sparkle" & "gloss" of it all....You can't see it in the photo but I actually cracked the Glossy Accents in a couple places to make it look like the witch broke the glass ball.
