My Hydrangea Wreath

Hello Friends...

Do you ever get an idea for a project and it turns out even better than you envisioned?  Well that happened to me when I got the idea to make this Hydrangea Wreath!  I actually got the idea for this while I was out shopping and spotted a dried hydrangea wreath. It wasn't very colorful so I decided to try my hand at making one of my own using Rinea Foiled Papers. Now these are colorful!

So I searched around in my stash for a nice 4 petal flower die and found one in a monthly kit club from Spellbinders. Then I started cutting...and cutting and cutting. This one wreath took over 1000 petals, each one hand cut and glued to styrofoam balls with a hot glue gun.

I am just so proud of how it turned out...

A Barn in Newfoundland

Today I wanted to share a project I was working on over this past weekend...

Mom and Dad bought a place up in Newfoundland and the barn below was on the property when they moved in.  It had seen better days and they decided to tear it down (before it fell down). Mom really liked it and so she asked me to paint a picture of it for her to have at their home here in Indiana.

Mind you this is only the 2nd oil painting I've ever made but I'm very happy with how it turned out.

I took a bit of creative license leaving out several of the repairs to the barn as well as other surrounding objects to really help make the barn the focus.

What do you think?

Horsing Around

Happy Friday!!

Today I wanted to share a card I made recently for Morgan's Mom (for her b-day).

I started off by stamping the horse (Deep Red Stamps) using Pinecone VersaFine Clair ink as well as a second imagine on scrap paper - this will be my mask for the rest of the stamping/inking.  I positioned the mask over the horse then stamped the large trees (Deep Red Stamps).  I tore a piece of scrap paper and used it to create the hill behind the horse as well as the dirt path that the horse is running on. I wanted to play with my stipple brush so that's what I applied most of the color with on the path, grass, sky an the large trees in the background.

I then stamped all of the foliage, pine trees, and flowers (all Rubber Stamp Tapestry stamps).  Next I watercolored the horse using Memento inks and a waterbrush.  I added a few white gel pen highlights to the hooves and some ink around the edge to really make it all pop.

I mounted it on a green card base and stamped a sentiment inside to finish the card off.

Hope you all have a wonderfully inky weekend!!

Love these mad characters from Alice in Wonderland!

Each was stamped with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink then colored and fussy cut.
They have been added to some coins that I die-cut from left over paint pour scraps.
I printed out some of my favorite quotes from the book...

Hope you are inspired and want to join in on the fun.
You still have a few hours left to get your coin, cards or chunkies entered for your chance to win!

Good Luck Friends!

Hoppy Spring Banner

Hello Friends!  I don't know about you but this month has flown by so far...I don't know where the time has gone.

Today I wanted to share a fun little bunny banner I made using Rinea Foiled Papers.

HOPPY SPRING!!

I just love how this banner turned out. It is going to be hanging on my door to welcome in Spring.  It was very easy to make.  For all the details check out "Hoppy Spring Bunny Banner" on the Rinea blog.

I love combining the glossy and Startstruck foiled papers in a project. The contrast between the two is very striking.  I used the Pastel Variety Pack for this creation along with Ebony/Gold Glossy foiled paper which I used for the letters.

It is a dream to die-cut but it is just as easy to hand cut as I did with the bunnies!

Hop you are inspired to create one of your own!
(see how I did that....hop...get it?)

Have a great day friends!!

Poppies for Remembrance

Hello Friends - it's been a crazy week here...work has been cutting into fun time. Today I have a set of cards using one of the new Rubber Stamp Tapestry sets - Poppies for Remembrance.  It's such a lovely set and a perfect way to help hurry Spring along.

You're Amazing - This card was made by cutting a small rectangle from cream colored cardstock. I stamped the various poppy heads using Rhubarb Stalk, Morocco and Tangelo Memento Inks in the upper 2/3's of the panel. Next I took a stipple brush and pounced Bamboo Leaves Memento Ink in the bottom third.  I then used the Bamboo Memento Dual Tip Marker and drew in the stems.  This stamped panel was matted with green cardstock and mounted on a tomato red card blank.  Finally the sentiment from the new Mom and Dad clear stamp set was stamped using VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink.

Because of You.... I started off by stamping the tiny branch from Secret Garden along the left side of a 3x4" beige card panel using Verde VersaFine Clair Ink.  I went back and then stamped the poppy blossoms again using the same Memento inks from the first card and finished the area off by stamping the poppy leaf from another new set Poppy Wreath.  The sentiment "Because of you" (from the stamp set of the same name) was stamped with Nocturne VersaFine Clair ink.  This panel was then spritzed with Pear Tart Fireworks! Spray.  It was mounted with a smaller piece of green cardstock and mounted on an orange card blank.

My final card for today is a joke between my Mom and I.  I always tease her that she likes my brother more which is why I put the "your favorite child" at the bottom - LOL!!  For this card I stamped the poppy blossoms in a loose grid pattern then went back and used the tiny branch and stamped in between them this way and that.  It makes for a nice hand made pattern paper.  Again I used a sentiment from the Mom & Dad set of stamps stamped with VersaFine Clair ink.  This panel was mounted on a dark green panel which was mounted on a light moss card blank.

I hope you enjoy these cards as much as I did making them.
I will be sharing more fun using some of the other new stamp sets soon!
Until then...
Ink on my friends!

Welcome to my Galaxy Glitter Zoo!

I am so excited to share the first installment of my Galaxy Glitter Zoo! If you've visited before you may already know that I'm a glitter girl.  I love shine, sparkle and the zing it brings to any project.

Well, I have wanted to make a glittery zoo for a very long time now. Actually I have been saving up choice Little People animals for just such an occasion but up until now I just never found the right medium to make it happen.  Well DecoArt has taken care of that problem when they recently introduced Galaxy Glitter!

This beautiful product is chock full of glitter unlike most glitter paints that have some sparkle but not nearly enough to really make your project shine. I have tried other glitter glues in the past but couldn't add enough layers to really get full coverage.  No need to worry about that now.

I started off with these adorable little animals that I have collected for a long time....
To achieve the best coverage I started off by painting the various parts with like colored paints.  If you're unsure what color of paint to use for each color of Galaxy Glitter DecoArt has a handy chart that will help you get started.

I wanted my unicorns white with different color manes so I painted them up and applied 3 coats of Galaxy Glitter to each. I let each coat dry before moving on to the next...trust me, this was the hardest part. I could have stopped at 2 coats but I really wanted to pack some glitter punch.

Here's how they turned out...

My Clear Ice Comet Unicorn with a Milky Way Blue Mane. I just love him!!

A Purple Eclipse and Clear Ice Comet Panda Bear

Silver Moon Elephant

My little Ice Comet Unicorn with a Supernova Berry mane.

The darling little Pink Cosmos pig.

The Ultraviolet Seal

A Black Hole Toucan that has Gold Shooting Star belly, Aurora Borealis Green/Red Nebula beak and Milky Way Blue toes.

The two tone Extraterrestrial/Aurora Borealis Green Alligator

And finally my Solar Flare Orange Cheetah with Deep Space Blue polka dots!

I hope you have enjoyed your visit to my glitter zoo... This has been so much fun making these animals, I can't wait to start working on the second group of animals that I have invited to live at my Galaxy Glitter Zoo!

Supplies:

DecoArt - Galaxy Glitter - Clear Ice Comet, Pink Cosmos, Red Nebula, Supernova Berry, Solar Flare Orange, Gold Shooting Star, Extraterrestrial Green, Aurora Borealis Green, Milky Way Blue, Deep Space Blue, Ultraviolet, Purple Eclipse, Silver Moon, Black Hole; Americana Acrylic Paint - Snow White, Bubblegum Pink, True Red, Bright Orange,  Lemon Yellow, Festive Green, Kelly Green, Calypso Blue, Royal Purple, Lamp Black
