Big Foot!

Hello All!  Did you think I feel off the face of the Earth?  Almost but not quite....just as I thought I was getting over the flu dh brought home a terrible cold.  That piled on with not being quite over the flu knocked me on my butt again!  I think I am *FINALLY* better.  I tell you being sick/run down is for the birds. I haven't done much lately - only what I absolutely had to but I did take up a project that I didn't have to concentrate too hard on at any one time.....

Mr. Big Foot!

He stands about 11" tall and he's so soft and squishy!

He's a bit over-stuffed and I think I used the wrong size crochet hook but he was lots of fun to make.

He's got personality though don't you think?
I saw him on a post over at Hoffee and a Nuffin and she directed me to Ravelry
where I found his pattern - Fuzzy Yeti by Karla Fitch

My DIL loves bigfoot so I knew I wanted to make one for her.
As it turns out they are fun to make so I'm going to make a blue one for myself
and maybe a few to sell... (gotta pay for all this yarn somehow - LOL!!)

The following are just a few "in the process" pics I took....

I got really excited when I put his face on...just too stinkin' cute!
So, now that I'm back we'll resume the texture calendar
and get caught up on a few other things soon!

  1. So cute! I have been learning crochet (properly, I used to try here and there but did not do it well) and after I finish the afghan I plan to try some of the amigarumi. I am not sure I could do this one right away, but you did such a great job. Looks like some special yarn too for the fuzzy look.

  2. Well good for you Heidi!! It really is fun. I have lots more amigarumi's picked out to make. I think I'm going to try a bunny real quick to see if I can make some for easter baskets. We'll see how it goes.

No special yarn - it's regular Red Heart acrylic yarn - the secret is to use a de-shedd brush (for a dog). You gently rake the brush over the yarn and it will pull tiny fibers out making it look like a furry specialty yarn. Works like a charm!

  5. Oh, I'm so sorry you've been sick. I've had a terrible cough and cold for 2 weeks so I know how that can drag you down. Haha...this Bigfoot is hilarious and so adorable! I haven't crocheted in years but this little guy is inspiring me to pick it up again.
