Slight Delay - Youngest DS in an Accident....

Hi All...

I wanted to let you all know there will be a slight delay with the ATC swap and possibly the Art Journal this week.

Yesterday my youngest DS and his girlfriend were in an auto accident.  It was pretty bad but thank God they were both wearing their seatbelts so they weren't hurt too bad (we think the truck is totaled).   The ER doc saw a photo of the truck that the paramedic took...he said if they hadn't been wearing their seatbelts there probably would have been fatalities.

It's been quite an ordeal that I'm sure we'll be dealing with (police, insurance, etc) for a while.  DS has a mild concussion and is a bit confused (he keeps asking the same questions over and over) so we have to make sure he rests and doesn't try to do too much and watch him for any signs if things are staying the same, getting worse/better.     His girlfriend had to say in the hospital overnight because her blood pressure wouldn't come down (I don't know why that would happen).  Thankfully she is better this a.m. and was being released an hour or so ago.

We've never dealt with anything like this so it's all a bit scary...since he is 19 the hospital never even called us!!  His girlfriends Dad finally gave us a call when he arrived at the hospital and stayed w/Bob until we could get there. It was the longest ride DH & I have ever made.  It's just so frightening not knowing anything...your mind automatically thinks the worst.

I'm sorry...I'm rambling.

Anyway, I did receive several packages of ATC's but I haven't touched them yet.  I will be posting and updating you on things probably tomorrow.  I know there are still some outstanding sets of ATC's and I saw a few e-mails in my in box with the ATC subject which I haven't answered either.  I will try to get to them asap and let you know what's going on.

I"ll try to get to the Art Journal soon too but I haven't even figured out which technique I want to share this week so I'll get the supply list posted prob. tomorrow too.

If you can think some good thoughts for the both of them it would be greatly appreciated!

  24. Oh Roni, how scary but so glad to hear the kids are ok. Seatbelts are mandatory here in Canada and they do save lives.
I wish both of them a quick and speedy recovery. BTW the high blood pressure may be a sign of shock, shock can do things differently to different people or the girlfriend may have high BP and it is now just being detected. Keep an eye on your son, concussions should be treated with the utmost attention and care. I hope everything goes well for both and you and the parents as well.
I am saying prayers for all of you.

  33. I've been there and its like a fear you can't imagine. My daughter was sitting at a red light and was hit, car totaled and the other car was from out of state with no insurance. She was fine, just a sore knee, so although I had to make 2 car payments for a while I didn't complain (too much) hugs and prayers are with you.

  43. Dear Roni -

Praying that all is well with your son. My son was about the same age when he had his car accident. Not fun getting a call in the middle of the night from police saying your son is in the hospital. I still remember the fear and anxiety. Sending loving thoughts and good wishes your way.

  47. I'm so glad your son and his girlfriend are doing better. I know how horrific those kinds of phone calls can be---especially when the hospital didn't even bother to call you!! Honestly, is that all we are in the world anymore is just a number (your son being 19). This is a human being, for the love of God. I honestly don't know where people's brains are at sometimes with these stupid policies they have. I don't know if this would have made any difference but in my cell phone, I have listed as the first two numbers, Emergency Contacts. I have them entered in the address book as 1 Emergency Contact and 2 Emergency Contact. With having it set up this way in the Contact List, they appear as the first two numbers if anyone would be so inclined to check my cell for an emergency contact. Although,, with your son being 19 and you didn't receive a phone call due to his age, I doubt at 47, anyone would be calling for me....lol Glad to hear everything is going to be ok!! xo
